Way back in 2012, approximately three decades ago, I swapped my iPhone for a then brand-new Samsung Galaxy Note II. The large size and open-ended Android ecosystem stole me away from Apple for at least a couple of years. Now I’m back on my large phone kick with the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Between its gorgeous 6.9-inch, 120 Hz display and its perfect-for-cloud-gaming 5G support, I’m good for at least another year or two. read more

Samsung is bringing EUV to DDR5 RAM in 2021, hopefully in time for AMD Zen 4

Today, Samsung announced that it has “successfully shipped one million of the industry’s first 10nm-class (D1x) DDR4 (double data rate 4) DRAM modules based on extreme ultraviolet (EUV) technology”. Samsung’s “world’s first” 3nm node will offer 30% higher performance than 5nm

Samsung has succeeded in manufacturing the world’s first 3nm process technology, announcing more details of the advanced process node following a visit by its vice chairman, Lee Jae-yong, to its Research Institute at Samsung’s Mars plant this week. The 3nm design uses a new Gate-All-Around (GAA) technology instead of the classic FinFET transistor design, which is set to offer 30% higher processor performance compared with the upcoming 5nm node. read more
