There are different kinds of magic users in Black Clover, and those who draw power from the underworld are some of the strongest in the entire shonen series. After all, their powers come from negative mana, allowing them to cast powerful forbidden magic spells that ignore the limits of normal magic.
Despite the risks that come with using forbidden magic, the strongest users in Black Clover are bold enough to alter or sacrifice their souls, humanity, and even their lives to obtain overwhelming power. Against the most powerful enemies, these forbidden magic users are not afraid to risk it all.

Speaking of Sealing Magic, Secre can use it to seal people into objects for centuries. She can also use it as a form of healing magic, where she seals a person’s injuries and wounds. Patry’s Evil Eye Spell Shows the True Danger of Forbidden Magic
Elves are among the most powerful beings in Black Clover, largely because of their enormous mana reserves. As such, Patry ranks among the series’ most powerful mages, wielding his signature Light Magic alongside forbidden magic to enhance his magic spells and accomplish his goals.
With Forbidden Magic, Patry successfully cast a reincarnation spell called Evil Eye, which allows him to reincarnate elven souls into human hosts while suppressing the hosts’ souls. The spell also enhances the reincarnated elves’ magical abilities and amplifies their hatred and resentment toward humans.

Licht’s Forbidden Magic Turned Him Into a Rampaging Demon
Anyone can use forbidden magic in Black Clover, and true enough, even a peace-loving and kindhearted elf like Licht has access to it. Before the present events of the series, Licht intentionally drew power from the underworld through the magic stones to prevent Zagred from possessing his body.
Licht’s forbidden magic is of the highest level, transforming the leader of the Elf Tribe into a rampaging demon that only a mage in Lemiel’s caliber can put to rest. As a result, he tainted his magic with negative mana and even destabilized his soul. His once four-leaf magic grimoire was also corrupted, transforming into a five-leaf clover grimoire that symbolized despair and allowed a devil to reside within it.

Zagred’s Forbidden Magic Allows Him to Bend the Rules of Reality
Devils have a natural aptitude for forbidden magic, and even their most basic spells are considered forbidden because their power originates from the underworld. Zagred is no exception, as the high-ranking devil uses Kotodama Magic to alter reality through spoken commands, imitate other mages’ magic, and more.
On top of that, Zagred uses a five-leaf clover grimoire that allows him to summon underworld monsters capable of absorbing magic, life force, and the like. It also grants him an overpowered trident that further makes him an untouchable opponent on the battlefield, allowing him to destroy anything the trident comes into contact with.

Megicula’s Forbidden Magic Can Kill Humans, Elves, and Elemental Spirits
As one of the highest-ranking Qliphoth Devils in Black Clover, Megicula naturally wields Forbidden Magic in combat. As the progenitor of curse magic, Megicula can create a wide variety of curses with devastating effects. From spells that disable an opponent’s magic and deteriorate their body, mind, and soul to lethal curses capable of instantly killing their targets, her forbidden Curse-Warding Magic makes her one of the most dangerous enemies in Black Clover.

Lucifero’s Forbidden Magic Makes Him a Catastrophic Threat to the Living World
As one of the rulers of the underworld and the most powerful devils connected to the Qliphoth Tree, Lucifero is a fearsome Forbidden Magic user. His power takes the form of Gravity Magic, granting him the ability to manipulate gravity itself by increasing or decreasing its force. His Gravity Magic can also affect intangible concepts, distort space, and destroy magic.
In his perfect form, Lucifero can easily destroy the living world once he unleashes his full power. Still, in his incomplete form, Lucifero is strong enough to completely overwhelm multiple boosted magic knight captains, with little to no effort. He can even control multiple devils at once, making him an absolute powerhouse in both the living world and the underworld.
