Pokémon Spotlight Hour will feature a different Pokémon and a special bonus for one hour at 6:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday during the month of October. Petilil Spotlight Hour takes place on October 14th, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm local time, with a bonus of 2x Stardust for catching Pokémon.

This Spotlight Hour is the second October 2025 Pokémon spotlight, and it is especially interesting as Petilil can be shiny.

Trainers who plan to participate should be prepared with a Mega Pokémon to maximise candy gains per Pokémon caught. Here’s everything you need to know!

Petilil Spotlight Hour

Bonuses

  • Stardust icon

You will get 2x Stardust for catching Pokémon

  • Shiny icon

Shiny Petilil and its evolution are available in Pokémon GO

Note on Stardust Bonus

Petilil is unfortunately not one of the rare Pokémon that give extra Stardust on catch, sbut there is still a chance to get some stardust gains during this event!

Here’s how much Stardust you can get during Petilil Spotlight Hour in October 2025, thanks to the 2x Stardust bonus:

Type of catch Stardust
Regular catch 200
Weather boosted catch 250
Regular catch with Star Piece 300
Weather boosted catch with Star Piece 375

The best possible scenario you can have is to catch a weather boosted Pokémon with an active Star Piece. As Petilil is a Grass-type they are boosted by Sunny weather.

To maximise Stardust caught you’ll likely want to use Great Balls to ensure the catch and use a quick catch technique. Otherwise, you could be spending too much time attempting to catch, rather than just catching.

We believe that the baseline for calculating potential Stardust during this hour should be 60 Pokémon. You should be able to get 60 Pokémon during one hour, regardless of if you are using the Fast catch trick, or just catching slowly.

Here’s how much Stardust you should be able to earn during the Spotlight Hour:

Star Piece active Weather is Sunny Stardust
❌ No ❌ No 12,000
❌ No  ✅ Yes 15,000
✅ Yes ❌ No 18,000
✅ Yes ✅ Yes 22,500
  • 12,000 Stardust is your minimal Stardust goal. This means you caught 60 Pokémon, but there was no weather boost and you did not activate a Star Piece.
  • 15,000 Stardust is your minimal goal if the in-game weather is Sunny.
  • 18,000 Stardust is the minimal amount you are looking for with a Star Piece activated. This should be easy to get if you activate two Star Pieces, regardless of in-game Weather. Star Piece increases your Stardust gain by 50%, which is an additional 3,000 Stardust over the baseline.
  • and finally… 22,500 Stardust is the amount of Stardust you will get if you catch 60 Pokémon, with a Star Piece active, during Sunny weather.

The only downside of this event is that Petilil is relatively difficult to catch, and you will probably want to use Great Balls or Ultra Balls during the event. Otherwise, you could be spending too much time attempting to catch, rather than just catching.

Petilil

Petilil is a Grass-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO. As a Grass-type Pokémon, Petilil is weak to Bug, Fire, Flying, Ice, and Poison-type moves.

Petilil’s maximum Combat Power stat is 1164 CP, and its best Pokémon GO moves are Charm and Seed Bomb. Petilil encounters are boosted during Sunny weather. Shiny Petilil is available! ✨

Petilil evolves into Lilligant which costs 50 Petilil Candy and a Sun Stone.

Shiny Petilil

Shiny Petilil looks more yellow in colour than its non-shiny counterpart. However, it is subtle and could be tricky to spot.

  Regular Shiny
Petilil Petilil is a plant Pokémon that resembles a plant bulb, such as an onion. It is primarily light green. Its head is tipped with three oblong leaves, whose color can determine how healthy the Petilil is. The leaves on its head reliably grow back if any fall off, and if they are pruned regularly, Petilil can be grown into a fine round shape. Its crescent-shaped white face, seemingly lacking a nose or mouth, has brown eyes shaped like elongated ovals. A green "bib" is present on its neck, and its lower body consists of five stubs. The outer stubs act as arms, the middle stub acts as a foot, and the two inner stubs next to it are used to move itself around. Shiny Petilil has a lighter, yellow body.
Lilligant Lilligant is a humanoid Pokémon with plant characteristics. It dons a scarlet flower with white-spotted petals upon its head; said flower has golden filaments with red anther, resembling a crown. It possesses dark green, linear leaves under the flower, and light green, linear leaves underneath the darker leaves. One of the light green leaves, on the back of its head, is about as long as its body and resembles hair. Two light green leaves loosely hang down from its head. Its head and abdomen are white and its eyes, which resemble seeds, are a light shade of scarlet. It has dark green, linear leaves for arms, and a golden sepal under its neck. It wears a large, light green, tulip shaped collection of leaves, resembling a dress. There are two long, dark green, linear leaves coming from its back to around the bottom of its "dress". It also possesses another golden, sepal-shaped extension underneath its "dress", resembling feet. Shiny Lilligant has a lighter green body and the flower on its head is pink.

Mega Pokémon that boost Petilil

The following Pokémon will grant you extra bonuses when catching Petilil if they are Mega/Primal evolved:

A Note on Mega Catch Bonus

While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.

Is it worth evolving Petilil?

PVE

⚔ Raids

Lilligant is a pure Grass-type Pokémon.

However, it isn’t a strong option for raids, as there are many better choices for a Grass-type raid attacker.

🔵 Great League

Lilligant in the Great League is very frail and lacks any spammy charged attacks.

As such, right now, it just doesn’t have much play in the Great League.

🟡 Ultra League

Much like in the Great LeagueLilligant is also very frail in the Ultra League and still lacks a good move combination to make up for its frailty.

🟣 Master League

With a max CP of 2883Lilligant is far too weak to compete in the legendary-dominated Master League.
