If there’s one thing as exciting, or perhaps even more exciting than getting a brand-new Resident Evil game in the form of Resident Evil Requiem, it’s the prospect of getting even more RE Remakes in the vein of RE 2, 3 and 4.
For some time, it’s been rumored that both Code Veronica and Zero would be the next games to receive the “Remake” treatment, but now, via a new report MP1st, we have some more details on Zero’s status, including just where it sits in the development pipeline.
Hint: things are a full go.
Resident Evil Zero Might Have A Very Familiar Actor
In MP1st’s report, it’s noted that the Zero remake project has been in the works for a few years now, and has been under the codename “Chamber,” a cheeky nod to protagonist Rebecca’s last name.
Performance capture and voice work reportedly began in 2024, and what’s more, Jon McLaren, who was Star Lord in the massively underrated Guardians of the Galaxy video game, will seemingly have a role. A resume shared by MP1st notes that McLaren has a “Project Chamber” listed on it.
When the game does release, it will have expanded lore, including a section at the beginning of the game being further fleshed out, giving the remake a “more cinematic structure.” We won’t spoil that section, but feel free to check out the MP1st piece to find out how things are being expanded.
As a final note, it seems like we won’t be seeing Zero for quite some time. With Requiem targeting a release early next year, plus Code Veronica to reportedly follow in 2027, it gives Zero a window for 2028, which is pretty far out. Technically speaking, we should’ve been playing Zero by now, but a reboot in 2024 impacted things greatly, per previous reporting.
Still, if it means a better, more complete experience in the end, then we’ll take the delay.
