This article contains spoilers for One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.
One Piece is currently in the Elbaf arc, where Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates are currently fighting against the World Government’s strongest — the Holy Knights. The party itself is led by the strongest One Piece character right now, Saint Imu Nerona, and that’s what makes this arc so exciting. While the focus of the Elbaf arc has been the Straw Hats, fans know there is more to it than just that.
In fact, Oda has already confirmed that One Piece’s Final Saga will see focus on more than just Luffy’s group. Organizations like the Revolutionary Army will also be focused on, which means Monkey D. Dragon will soon come into play here. As it just so happens, Oda has already teased what fate holds in store for Dragon, and it is an eventual defeat.
Dragon Is Not The Man Who Will Free The World
- Dragon Aims To Fight The Government
- He Is Leading A War Vs The World Government
I’ve already decided on the last panel and how the last chapter will be. In the final saga, I’ll focus on not only the Straw Hats but also on events happening in the whole world. The problem is how many years it will take to start the final saga. — Oda, 1999
Based on Oda’s very own words, it is quite clear that One Piece’s Final Saga will see the most important players take up a big role as well. Naturally, this means that Monkey D. Dragon, Luffy’s father, will be heavily involved. In fact, Dragon is actually already heavily involved. When Sabo and his men attacked the Reverie, they had already launched the biggest attack on the Holy Land for years, and now, an all-out war has almost begun.
What I want is to start a revolution. Mark my words, Vegapunk. I will change this world. — Dragon
Dragon aims to fight the Celestial Dragons and rip them from power, and by doing so, he wants to install a just world order. In other words, Dragon’s main enemy is none other than Imu, but there is no way he’s going to beat the monster that is the King of the World.
Dragon Will Lose To Imu In One Piece
Imu Is One Of One Piece’s Final Villains
Imu is way too strong for Dragon to defeat. Dragon is going to be strong and there is no doubt about that. He promised that he would build an army strong enough to fight the World Government, and he’s done that. But, Dragon is unaware of Imu’s powers, and he will soon get a taste of it. One Piece’s Final Saga will show Imu on a completely different level, and given that Dragon isn’t the main character, there is no way that he will beat Imu.
In fact, Dragon will go on to lose this battle, and his legacy will be carried on by his son, Luffy. After all, Luffy is that Sun God Nika and the one destined to liberate the world. It is he who will fight and defeat Imu and bring true freedom to the world. No matter how strong Dragon is, he can never do what is meant to be done by Luffy.
When I was a kid, I thought to myself: man I would love to draw a manga with the most hyped final stage! I wonder if I’m up to it! Now, we have only a tiny bit of Wano arc left, the preparations are almost done. Took me 25 years lol. That said, it’s fine if you start reading from this point on. Because from this point on…it’ll be… The ONE PIECE!! The mysteries of this world, I’ll be drawing all of them! It’ll be super interesting! Fasten your seatbelt! And please stay with me for a bit longer! — Eiichiro Oda, Author of One Piece, 2022
One Piece’s next chapter will be out this week. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on October 26. Fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus.
