In a rather disappointing update, we have news on the compensation being offered after Pokémon GO trainers were impacted by server issues during the Mega Rayquaza Raid Day. DownDetector reported a massive spike in error reports within minutes, confirming a global-scale disruption rather than a localised issue.

As reported at the time, news came in from Japan, Australia, and parts of Europe and North America, where Trainers attempting to join remotely were hit with endless loading screens, “Failed to get data from server” errors, and broken Gym interactions.
Scopely have now announced the compensation being issued for this problem, leaving many trainers very disappointed with the end result which was shared on the Niantic Help website:
- Free Raid Passes used were reimbursed as Premium Battle Passes.
- Remote Raid Passes were reimbursed as-is.
- If your Item Bag is at or over available inventory, Raid Passes have been reimbursed anyway.
- Due to legal restrictions, Trainers who log in via child accounts through Niantic Kids or Pokémon Trainer Club are not eligible for this reimbursement. Please reach out to support if you were impacted.
Many players had expected an actual make-up event day with more Mega Rayquaza raids, which is what has previously happened during other raid events with major issues. This is in fact not the first Mega Rayquaza raid event that has had issues, with the initial launch in Elite Raids being very problematic.
Did you have issues during the recent Mega Rayquaza raid day, and how do you feel about the compensation?
