Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 may be reviewing even worse than the panned original, but it’s clearly a hit with fans since its audience score is actually a little higher.
As you’ve probably heard by now, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is being absolutely slammed with negative reviews by critics, who have called it pretty much every bad thing under the sun. As of the time of writing, it currently has a shocking 13 percent score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, which is less than half of what the original film received.
It might sound like Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is one of the year’s worst movies and absolutely not worth your time, but that apparently isn’t what everybody thinks. Just like the original film, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’s audience score doesn’t match the reviews at all, as it’s actually being looked upon even more kindly than the first movie.

At Least Someone’s Having A Good Time With It
As pointed out by Redditor -Xayer on the Five Nights at Freddy’s subreddit, FNAF 2’s Rotten Tomatoes scores have settled a bit now that the movie is actually out and more reviews have popped up. While its critic score is looking even worse than when we originally reported on it, the audience score (or Popcornmeter as RT wants us to call it) is shockingly high.

Halloween Horror Nights Is For The Gamers This Year.
After more than 1,000 verified ratings, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 sits at a whopping 88 percent audience score, which suggests that fans of the franchise are finding something to love about it. Interestingly, this score is actually a bit higher than the original film’s Popcornmeter, which currently sits at 86 percent.
It’s worth noting that Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 has less than half of the audience reviews that the original movie does, so there’s still a lot of time and room for things to change.
Of course, the Five Nights at Freddy’s community is a rather passionate one that’s been looking forward to the second movie for quite some time, so the overwhelmingly positive reviews might just be a bit of a movement to give it more love. That being said, there’s also a good chance that fans actually just really like the movie and aren’t taking it as seriously as critics.
All in all, considering how most of the negative reviews for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 were about it having too much cheap fan service, it seems that might have paid off for the audience score. We’ll have to wait and see how the movie performs at the box office when all is said and done, but it certainly seems like the critic reviews might not doom Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 as much as we all think.
