If you thought Cronos: The New Dawn, the latest survival horror game from Bloober Team, came and went without as much as a hiccup, then you’re probably not alone. After all, releasing on the same day as Hollow Knight: Silksong is as cruel as it gets.
That said, it appears Bloober Team is ready to reignite interest in its newest title among lapsed players who may have found the game too difficult and those who may have missed out originally via a new difficulty option — an “Easy” mode.

In a new video shared online, Bloober Team has revealed that “Temporal Diver Mode,” or “Easy” mode will be coming to Cronos: The New Dawn via an update in early 2026.
“Hey there, travelers. Cronos: The New Dawn was a game developed to challenge the players,” Bloober Team said in the video. “But we’ve heard your voices, and we know that some of us want to explore the story behind the game (at) your own pace. So right now, we are working on a new difficulty setting that will be introduced in early 2026. Such is our calling.”
Among the 853 user reviews shared on Metacritic, many pointed to the difficulty as a significant point of contention.
“This could be such a good game, but with just one difficulty level, the game can be hard, and it can take you hours and hours just to get to the next point,” a reviewer wrote. “A patch is required immediately with an easier mode.”
It’s Not The Only Game To Add An Easy Mode Post-Launch
Although adding a post-launch “Easy” mode sounds pretty wild, Cronos: The New Dawn isn’t the first to do it. In fact, in 2025 alone, multiple developers helped bridge the gap between lapsed players, casuals and those on the fence by, well, making things easier.
Most recently, Silent Hill f added its own easy mode called “Casual” that helped make the combat easier on first-time playthroughs, as well as on subsequent New Game Plus runs for all the game’s endings. Elsewhere, Lies of P added difficulty options to the base game alongside the release of its Overture DLC.
“By making development adjustments and introducing these difficulty options, we can offer the experience to different types of players,” game director Jiwon Choi said. “This broadens the base.”
Even Final Fantasy 7 added some modifications to its Switch 2 port that helped make combat a breeze, allowing players to experience the story. Elsewhere, there were options added to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle that let players be challenged by puzzle-solving and exploration and not combat. The First Berserker Khazan also did something similar with its 01.011.008 update.
Which is to say, developers are seemingly recognizing the impact difficulty has on players, and are more willing than ever to change things, even post-launch, if it means appealing to more people.
