How to Build the Beautiful Building in Pokopia

As soon as you get the Bubbly Basin environment to Level 3, Popplio will have a big idea. They found a building kit for the Ocean Temple and want to make it the center of the Bubbly Basin in the Pokopia Expansion Pass. This is similar to building the huge building in the Sparkling Skylands. There are six Pokemon who each need help before you can get started, and you’ll need 15 total. We’ve outlined all the requests you’ll need to complete so you can build this beautiful building in the Bubbly Basin!

How to Build the Beautiful Building in Bubbly Basin

When you hit environment level 3 in the Bubbly Basin and talk with Popplio, they have a new project for you. Right after you talk with them, they swim north, up the large staircase, and wait for you at the top. When you get there, Popplio places a building kit for a very large building and asks for your help gathering their buddies and making the building happen.

Clear the Area

The first thing you need to do is get all the sand and blocks out of the area. This includes any blocks higher up within the parameters too. All you have to do is swim up using the B and R buttons, hold yourself in front of the higher blocks with the L button, then use Rock Smash to clear them.

Help Popplio Gather His Buddies

Popplio tells you that they need to gather their buddies to get help with making the building. All the Pokemon you’ll need to complete the tasks are:

  • Corsola
  • Mudkip
  • Carvanha
  • Corphish
  • Mareanie
  • Cloyster
  • Totodile
  • Chinchou
  • Barboach
  • Frillish

Below, we’ll share details on how you can get every Pokemon for this quest.

How to Get Corsola, Mudkip, and Carvanha For the Underwater Garden

Corsola Guide

Corsola is the Pokemon that will start all of this off. To find them, you have to build the Basin Tall Grass and Coral Habitat. This requires 4 seabed tall grass, a tall coral, and a small coral. This habitat is already almost complete at the bottom of the stairs to the gate. Just use Leafage to pull up enough grass.

After a few minutes, Corsola should make their appearance and ask you for help with the nearby garden to the East. This begins when they have an orange speech bubble overhead that says, “I just remembered!” They lead you to the garden where you talk with them again, and they mention that they can’t use their Grow specialty until the plants are given some air bubbles. Now you get the habitat information for Mudkip.

Mudkip Guide

Mudkip can blow bubbles with its Water special ability underwater. To get Mudkip into the Bubbly Basin, you only have to make a Basin Tall Grass habitat. This only requires pulling up 4 seabed tall grass with your Leafage ability.

After a little time, Mudkip will appear, and you need to take them over to the garden. They will automatically blow bubbles onto the plants, giving them the air they need to grow. Talk with Corsola, and they will come over and use their Grow specialty to make the watermelons grow instantly.

However, Corsola is disappointed in the watermelon plants because they’ve been eating the rind. After you explain they should cut it, they ask for your help getting a Cut specialty Pokemon, Carvanha.

Carvanha Guide

Corsola shares a habitat recipe with you, hoping you can bring in a Pokemon to help them cut the watermelon pieces. You need to build a Seaweed and Netting habitat for Carvanha. The building that’s next to the garden has a spot that just needs one more netting to make the habitat.

When Carvanha joins the Bubbly Basin, give them the watermelon to slice and collect it later. Give one of the slices to Corsola, and they’ll be ready to help with the building.

How to Get Corphish & Build Sharpedo

Corphish is going to be your main builder in Bubbly Basin. You’ll need to make his habitat, then help him with a special project he wants to do before he can help you.

Corphish Guide

To get Corphish, you need to make a Sandy Basin Tall Grass habitat. This requires a sandpile and 4 seabed tall grass plots. Just use Leafage next to a sandpile (which looks like a sand tunnel with seashells and seaglass on it) to make it.

Build the Sharpedo Submarine Kit

Almost immediately after coming into the Bubbly Basin, Corphish will ask you to find a building kit that looks like a Sharpedo. One of the new features of the game with the Expansion Pass is the Submarine Building Kit, which is a sub that looks like Sharpedo. There are two ways to get it:

  • Buy it for 300 Life Coins at the shop at Environment Level 3
  • Find it in the Water Gym on the East side of town

Once you have one, talk with Corphish, place it, and begin the build. When it’s finished, they will be ready to help.

How to Get Mareanie & Cloyster

Mareanie Guide

  • To get Mareanie into the Bubbly Basin, you’ll need a Swaying Flower Bed and Coral habitat.

First, find a colorful coral grouping around the main area of Bubbly Basin and use your Rototiller to dig up seabed flowers. Either while still holding them or after selecting them from your inventory, plant them next to the coral until you have 4 seabed flower plots.

Find a Pearl

After Mareanie shows up, you’ll see them with an orange bubble over their head that says “Uh oh…” When you talk with them, they’ll say they’ve been trying to find pearls. They point out a cave in the Northeast corner of the main square, to the right of the big set of stairs. Take the stairs further down.

Down the stairs, you see what looks like a dirty ball in the sand in the corner — it is a grubby pearl. Mareanie will be disappointed with this as they expected it to be shinier and ask you to bring Cloyster into Bubbly Basin to clean them up. Mareanie shares the Swaying Flower Bed and Seaweed habitat.

Cloyster Guide

cloyster pokopia

Cloyster has a speciality called Scrub that you will need as a speciality to build the beautiful building; this is also used to take grubby pearls and make them shiny pearls. Make their habitat, the Swaying Flower Bed and Seaweed habitat, by placing 4 seabed flowers and 2 lush seaweed by Chimney Rocks. Use your Rototiller ability to move seaweed and flowers. The Chimney Rocks are rock structures that are big on the bottom and get smaller as they go up, with a hole at the top, blowing bubbles.

Make a Marine Sofa

Instead of keeping the Shiny Pearl, Mareanie asks you to take it and make them a Marine Sofa. They give you the recipe, and you can craft it at a workbench with:

  • 1x seashell
  • 1x shiny pearl
  • 1x twine

Once it’s made, place it in Mareanie’s habitat area and talk with them again. Now they are ready to help build.

How to Get Totodile, Barboach, and Frillish

Find Starmie for Frillish

Go to the part of the ocean on the backside of the site for the beautiful building, and you’ll see a cove to the Northwest with orange blocks, preventing you from getting into the cave. As you get closer, you’ll see an orange speech bubble that says, “Hmmm…” Break the orange blocks with Rock Smash, and you’ll find Frillish inside. Talk with them to discover them first. This Pokemon needs help finding the Starmie Doll.

Now you can use your Cut ability to slice the netting that is blocking the way to the back of the cave. As you keep following the path and jump out of the water, you’ll see more orange cubes blocking the way to the back.

Clear them out and continue until you see another water spot you can float down.

Follow this room all the way to the back, and on the left you’ll see traffic cones with caution tape in front of some netting. Cut the netting here and continue on the path, dropping to the next area.

Here you find a set of tracks to follow.

When you see orange corals, use the Dowsing Rod and have Frillish help you discover treasure spots. The Starmie Doll is in the star-spotted rock. It will look like a treasure sack before you pick it up.

After you find it and give it to Frillish, they will give it back to you so you can use it to have Drifloon take you to a new dream island. Now you can ask them to help you build.

Play with Totodile

find totodile pokopia

Directly behind the beautiful building is a set of steps where you’ll find Totodile wandering around. When you talk with them, they will ask you to play a series of three games. First, Look That Way, where you have to guess whether they will choose to look left or right. Best of three wins, but it doesn’t really matter who the winner is.

play look that way totodile pokopia

Next, they will take you up the stairs to the playground and have you play Hide and Seek.

play hide and seek totodile pokopia

They will hide behind the slide very conspicuously. Finally, they will take you into the nearby building and want to play with a bubble blower, but it requires electricity.

Luckily, they know an electric Pokemon and tell you how to make their habitat.

Make Fluffy Relaxation Habitat for Chinchou

fluffy relaxation habitat pokopia

To get the Fluffy Relaxation habitat, you need to place any Doll, any Light, and a Cushion Bed together. You can buy a Cushion Bed from the PC shop for 100 Life Coins. Once they appear, take them to the bubble blower Totodile wanted to play with so they can power it.

bubbly bathtub habitat pokopia

This creates the Bubbly Bathtub habitat and becomes Totodile’s official home. Now you can take them to the beautiful building to help.

Find Barboach’s Treasure in the Deep Cave

barboach location pokopia

Behind the beautiful building, to the right, are some red and white buildings with a Barboach crying inside. When you go in and ask what’s wrong, they tell you that they have lost a treasure (a Seashell Seat) in the nearby cave, and they’re terrified of the dark. You offer to go in and get it, but you’ll need to be able to see.

Grab the Poke Ball inside the building, and you’ll get 10 Lampions you can place to help you see down the cave. They can be purchased from the PC shop for 100 Life Coins, but you shouldn’t need to buy any as there are a lot around the area.

There are a few at the top of the platforms that lead down into the cave, and if you drop straight down, there is a Poke Ball with 10 more inside. You really only need about 4 to see where you’re going well enough.

Look for the yellow squares on the ground to find the best places to put the Lampions.

seashell seat location pokopia

As you continue going West, straight back into the cave, you very quickly run into the Seashell Seat sitting on the ground between four Lampion spots. Pick it up and take it to Barboach, and next they’ll ask you for a home to rest in after all the panic of having lost their seat. But they have some special requests for their new home. It has to include:

  • 1x Lampion
  • 1x Small Coral
  • 1x Seashell Seat

This request is the Ocean Rest Spot Habitat.

You also receive the Lampion recipe at this point. There are a lot of Small Coral around the area you found Barboach in. Choose one and place the Seat and a Lampion. Talk with Barboach again, and they thank you for making their home. Now they’re ready to help.

How to Get All Beautiful Building Materials

  • 50x Star-Spotted Rocks

  • 25x Seashells
  • 10x Shiny Pearls
