Sigh. This type of videos usually heralds a bad game. There isn't much we saw that would say there is much to look forward to. Even Lara's new design looks odd.

So many marketing videos. Maybe put effort on the game and release a couple of trailers before release? Like Rockstar does?

Oh, I know, you don't have faith in your game.

"Preorder today".
Based on what? Videos has 0 game footage.

I was genuinely looking forward to this, because I’m a longtime Tomb Raider fan, but two things are already starting to worry me.

First, almost everything shown so far seems to be developers talking about the game, behind-the-scenes material and explanations of how it is being made. That can be interesting, but I would really like to see actual gameplay, environments, traversal, combat and real sections from the game. For me, the balance should be much closer to 50/50. I’m buying a game, not a documentary about making one.

Secondly, I hope the developers don’t overcorrect the identity of Tomb Raider in an attempt to make it fit every modern cultural expectation. The original series absolutely had a provocative, sometimes deliberately sexualized side to Lara Croft, and whether that is considered politically correct today or not, it was part of the character’s appeal and part of what built the franchise’s original fan base.

That doesn’t mean Lara has to remain frozen in the 1990s. Characters and franchises should evolve. But evolution is very different from sanding away everything distinctive until the result is technically inoffensive but no longer feels like Tomb Raider.

So please: show us the actual game, and don’t be afraid of the identity that made the series successful in the first place.

For a moment here I was afraid that this game won't acknowledge that arrogant, white man is below every woman but this reveal came like a fresh, summer breeze.
Gaming saved.
