Valve’s hit MOBA Deadlock has been on an absolutely legendary run with the release of its latest City Never Sleeps patch, which is adding six new characters and countless gameplay changes to the experience. While many of these gameplay features and visual updates have drastically improved the feel of the game, it’s the new heroes that have been taking the spotlight each week.
While they might have been the second-to-last hero voted in by players during the ongoing update, the new hero already has fans losing their minds over its gameplay implications, which bear a striking resemblance to Fortnite of all things.
Deadlock’s Violet Is Facing Fortnite Comparisons
While it has become somewhat of a tradition to pick apart the incredibly creative kits and voice lines added with each new hero, the latest Violet has been turning heads for the sheer amount of creative potential offered by the moveset, which lets you create your own structures out of thin air similar to Fortnite, best seen in the video shared by ricehatph on X.
Being far from the only player to make the comparison, Violet’s ability to create walls and walkways wherever she wants with the simple press of a button doesn’t look exactly like Fortnite on a visual level, but offers some strikingly similar gameplay opportunities when it comes to blocking off enemy attacks or creating walkways out of thin air.
Other fans have taken things a step further and have even started recreating Fortnite techniques themselves within Deadlock matches, blocking off abilities and climbing above opponents before dropping down on them with a highly damaging combo.
Deadlock’s New Heroes Keep Surprising Fans
Although the release of Violet has faced some criticism for being less interesting lore-wise compared to the other heroes added in the latest patch, her actual abilities continue Valve’s own trend of raising the bar with each hero, as even her movement potential has plenty of depth to traverse long distances or slide across the map with incredible speeds.
To top things off, Deadlock broke its own player count record yet again with over 303, 300 consecutive players when Violet went live, marking the third time in a row with its most recent character additions.
Even though we’re nearly at the end of the new hero releases for some time, players still have Nurse Harrow to look forward to when she releases on October 20, which will undoubtedly be another excellent addition to the growing roster of fan-favorite characters.
