Sensor Tower’s GTA VI Sales Tracker has updated with new figures, showing the game has now sold 6.45 million copies and generated $630 million in revenue across Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The data arrives a few weeks after a separate analyst report suggested GTA VI had already surpassed $200 million in early sales, showing that the game is picking up steam as we get closer to release.
The tracker also breaks down platform share, with PS5 accounting for 74% of sales and Xbox making up the remaining 26%. This is pretty in line with what we know about the sales split between Xbox Series X/S and PS5 in general.
For context, GTA V set industry records when it released in 2013, selling 11.21 million copies on day one and generating $815.7 million in its first 24 hours, before crossing $1 billion in three days. GTA VI’s current pre‑launch figures aren’t directly comparable as the game isn’t out yet, but so far, the game looks to be on track to at least match GTA V’s early success, albeit with higher price tags in place. When GTA V first launched, $60 was still the standard price for new games. GTA 6 changes that with an $80 starting price, and a $100 ultimate edition.
The console release is of course just the starting point. Recent rumours suggest that the PC version of GTA 6 will come out much sooner than anticipated, potentially as soon as Q1 2027.
