AdHoc Studio burst onto the scene last year with Dispatch, a fantastic choose your adventure game based around a set of original superheroes. The game ended up being a huge success on PC and console, but now a year later, an update brings the game to mobile and introduces new modes.
Dispatch will be playable on iOS and Android devices starting from the 9th of December, complete with new controls to better suit the smaller screen. However, there is also plenty to look forward to on the game’s 1-year anniversary for those who already own it on another platform.
Two new game modes are being added to Dispatch, encouraging those who have finished the main story to return. The first new mode is a storyboard mode, allowing players to see the original storyboard designs before everything was animated. There is also a new commentary mode, featuring 16 hours of cast and crew commentary throughout the story, so you can get further insight into what it was like piecing this game together.
Unfortunately, there is no word on an ‘endless Dispatch’ mode, something that fans have been requesting for a while. In-between the major animated scenes in Dispatch, players go through a mini-game, assigning different heroes to crimes throughout the city. This turned out to be quite a fun and addictive management sim, but so far, there have been no plans announced to expand on that, despite the interest in it as a standalone mode.
There is also no word on what’s next for AdHoc, a second season of Dispatch has not been announced yet, nor has a new game from the studio.
KitGuru Says: Dispatch was a great game to play through, but I’m more interested in seeing the actual Dispatch mini-game expanded than I am in hearing commentary. Do you think we’ll ever get an endless mode?
