Every Successor Of Naruto Uzumaki, Ranked By Strength

Naruto Uzumaki stood tall as Konoha’s Seventh Hokage and, at the same time, the strongest shinobi in the entire world. In the Boruto series, Naruto Uzumaki eventually lost the powers of Kurama and was sealed away in the dimension of Daikokuten.

He was thus succeeded by many powerful ninjas in one way or another, and all of them have varying levels of strength. While some managed to live up to the standard set by Naruto and uphold his legacy, others failed in this task dramatically. Regardless, Naruto’s many successors are special in their own way.

Shikamaru Nara

boruto characters who never surpassed naruto after shippuden-shikamaru

When it comes to the position of Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki was officially succeeded by none other than Shikamaru Nara. Shikamaru took the position of the temporary Hokage of Konoha and has ruled the village for three long years.

Shikamaru was one of the weakest ninjas in Konoha, and this remains true to this day. As a temporary Hokage, he is most certainly the weakest of the lot, but he still managed to succeed Naruto somehow. The primary reason for this could have been his time spent alongside Naruto Uzumaki, understanding his way of life and rule the best. That said, out of all the successors of Naruto, he is most certainly the most underwhelming of the lot, both in terms of strength and character writing in Boruto.

Konohamaru Sarutobi

Konohamaru new hokage boruto

Konohamaru Sarutobi is a beloved character from the Naruto franchise who has continued to play a significant role in Boruto as well. Konohamaru was the apprentice of Naruto and was always destined to become the Hokage at some point down the line. In the Boruto series, he was revealed to be the joint leader of Team 7 and guided Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki to great heights. Now, he is on the cusp of becoming the official 8th Hokage of Konoha following Shikamaru’s dismissal.

As a student of Naruto Uzumaki, he has learned the various forms of Rasengan and invented his own powerful jutsu as well. Konohamaru is significantly stronger than Shikamaru, but still not impressive enough to be a proper successor to Naruto Uzumaki. That said, after he becomes the 8th Hokage, he could receive a significant upgrade or two, and we would all love to see that.

Himawari Uzumaki

Boruto Side Cast attention himawari inojin

Himawari Uzumaki is yet another successor of Naruto Uzumaki. She is the daughter of the Seventh Hokage and thus has a tremendous responsibility to fulfill. Himawari is the inheritor of Kurama’s chakra, and as such, she succeeded Naruto as the user of the Nine-Tails’ power.

Naruto Uzumaki lost the chakra of Kurama after he utilized Baryon Mode in the battle against Isshiki. Meanwhile, Himawari inherited this in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 9 and has held on to this power ever since. Her control over the power of Kurama is significantly lower than what we expected, but it is set to grow with time.

Given that she is still a child right now, it will take years before she is able to reach the same level as Naruto. She also holds the potential to surpass Naruto moving forward, which is something that we are eagerly waiting to see. By adulthood, it is entirely possible for Himawari to not only surpass Naruto Uzumaki but become the strongest fighter in the entire world. Her potential, overall, with Kurama inside of her, is incredibly high.

Sarada Uchiha

sarada uchiha featured

Sarada Uchiha is the daughter of Sasuke and Sakura. While one would assume that she would follow in the footsteps of her own father, Sarada is more obsessed with Naruto than anyone else. The compassion of the Seventh Hokage left a strong mark on her, and ever since then, she has decided to become the Hokage in the future.

Sarada aims to live up to the standard set by the Seventh Hokage and lead the village by example one day. Her goal is to become the first Uchiha Hokage, and she will most certainly go on to accomplish that at some point later down the line. In terms of strength, Sarada has access to the strongest Mangekyou Sharingan that we have seen in the series, which holds the power of Ohirume, an ability that allows her to create powerful black holes and completely crush her enemies with immense gravitational force. Her jutsu is certainly strong enough to crush even an Otsutsuki. What’s even scarier is that she still has more potential to fulfill and can grow even stronger in terms of power. As the Hokage, Sarada can most certainly succeed Naruto Uzumaki in the best way possible.

Kawaki Uzumaki

boruto kawaki activating karma

Kawaki is a boy who lived a tragic life until Naruto Uzumaki eventually became his salvation. Kawaki was adopted into the Uzumaki household in the Boruto series and was trained by the Seventh Hokage himself. In fact, Kawaki’s only reason to live right now is to protect the Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki, and keep him from all harm.

He is an incredibly powerful character, and as a student of Naruto Uzumaki, he boasts tremendous strength. Kawaki has access to the Karma of Isshiki Otsutsuki, which means that he has all of his battle experience as well as his abilities, which include the two Shinjutsu known as Sukunahikona and Daikokuten. Kawaki has tremendous power up his sleeve, and his overall power is no less than that of a full-fledged Otsutsuki.

On top of that, he also has some jutsu that he inherited from Naruto. While he has certainly gone down the wrong path, in the future we hope that he is finally made to see things the way Naruto does and that he dedicates his life to defending the village that Naruto always wanted to protect.

The protagonist of the Boruto series, Boruto Uzumaki, is the most important character in the entire sequel series, and he stands as the strongest successor to Naruto. Boruto is Naruto’s own son, so in many ways, he upholds Naruto’s legacy to this day. Even though he has made Sasuke Uchiha his idol, he is still Naruto’s son at the end of the day and will dedicate his life to protecting the village that Naruto put his life on the line for time and again.

Boruto is incredibly powerful, and he has access to the Karma of Momoshiki Otsutsuki. As such, all of Momoshiki’s experience and abilities belong to Boruto Uzumaki already. He has also trained under Sasuke Uchiha and learned all the Uchiha abilities that he possibly could. Furthermore, he was also trained by Kashin Koji using the Prescience ability, and he was able to learn all the abilities that his own self across various timelines learned.

Boruto Uzumaki is a god-level ninja who has already surpassed Naruto in many ways. Even though he does not aim to become the Hokage, he is still a protector who will give his life for the village and, in many ways, is Naruto’s best successor. He still has a lot of potential to fulfill, and as the Boruto series continues, we can rest assured that he will grow even further in terms of overall strength. Boruto’s potential will take him beyond the power level of Naruto Uzumaki and make him a God akin to none other in the franchise. We are excited to witness his growth in the future, and hopefully he will be up to the mark.
