There is no gender difference in the first stage, however Kadabra and Alakazam both have gender differences. The male version has longer whiskers than its female counterpart.
This could be a pretty tricky one to spot when shiny hunting as Abra turns a slightly more pale shade of yellow. Keep your eye out, trainers!

The following Pokémon will grant you extra bonuses when catching Abra if they are Mega/Primal evolved.
A Note on Mega Catch Bonus
While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.
PVE
Alakazam was once among the premier Psychic types after Mewtwo. Over time, power creep has been hard on this classic Gen 1 Pokémon, but it’s still usable thanks to its incredible 271 ATK stat and access to a great moveset.
Raids
Alakazam’s Mega Evolution is one of the strongest in terms of offensive power, so why not just go for that instead of base Alakazam?
Gyms
Being fragile is a toxic trait for the Alakazam family, so they’re not meant to be put in Gyms.
PVP
Alakazam shot to PvP relevancy thanks to its Community Day move, Counter. It did surprisingly well, but then the Max Out Season nerfed Counter, making Alakazam worse. It can still work, but overall, it’s too flimsy in its bulk to make a true impact.
Great League
Counter is not as good, but with Fire Punch buffed in the Dual Destiny Season, Alakazam can use this combo (and Psychic) to turn some matches to its favor. Sadly, that’s about all you can expect from Alakazam.
Ultra League
Alakazam’s weaknesses, particularly to Dark and Ghost, are more common than this Pokémon would like in the Ultra League. You get the picture?
Master League
Alakazam entered the Master League. Alakazam vanished without a trace. Its spoons remain in the dust, though.
