Star Wars: Battlefront 2’s player count has undergone a resurgence as fans rally around to try and make EA complete the trilogy. Alone, those fans might not stand much of a chance, but now they have someone who recently starred in what is being lauded as one of the greatest Star Wars projects ever demanding a sequel right alongside them.
Muhanned Ben Amor, who just finished up portraying Wilmon in Andor, must have seen Battlefront 2’s renewed popularity and the campaign for EA to make a third as he has taken to Instagram to share his love for the series. Amor shared a message via an Instagram Story that simply reads, “Star Wars gotta give us Battlefront 3, ASAP.”

It’s clearly playing on his mind as six hours later, Amor returned to Instagram to share a little more about his love for Battlefront 2. Amor wrote that he grew up with Battlefront 2, noting that “he has been a veteran since day one”. In case anyone was in any doubt over the Andor star’s commitment to what, until now, is the newest Battlefront game, Amor included his playtime on the game, clocking in at an impressive 469 hours.

Whether Amor continues to rack up hours in Battlefront 2 isn’t clear, but a lot of people have been flocking back to the game. The resurgence appears to have started to celebrate this year’s Star Wars Day on May 4. However, while some people will return to a Star Wars game to celebrate the holiday and then forget about it again shortly after, that doesn’t seem to have happened this time.
People have stuck with Battlefront 2, and its Steam numbers remain strong. So strong that the game is inching closer to hitting its highest count since 2021. The game topped 9,000 concurrent players for the first time since January 2021, but it will need to better that by roughly 1,500 more players if it wants to set a new record for the game.
The phenomenon appears to be spreading across all platforms, too. While it’s not clear how many people have been playing Battlefront 2 exactly, a usually reliable Battlefront source has been told that 160,000 people were playing it at the same time at one point on Tuesday night.
If those numbers continue to rise and can be sustained, perhaps EA will consider a Battlefront 3. Unfortunately, even if it does, Star Wars fans will be waiting for a while. Everyone who would work on that project is currently busy developing Battlefield 6. We could have had a Battlefront 3 by now, but when presented with a plan for a third game by the team that worked on the first two, EA reportedly shot it down.
