The third official content update for the digital version of Frosthaven is going live. The new update, called Frosthaven Into The Abyss, introduces new player options and a brand new storyline for players to enjoy.
The Frosthaven Into The Abyss Content Update
According to an official press release, Frosthaven Into The Abyss is third and final major content update for the digital board game, officially taking it from Early Access into its 1.0 release. The game is an adaptation of the Frosthaven board game, created by Isaac Childres and published by Cephalofair Games.
The update will feature a new storyline involving an ancient power stirring within the Biting Sea. An artifact calling out to others to recover it. Your group is tasked with descending into the dark and retrieve this artifact before it falls into the wrong hands. This will involve exploring both above and below the Biting Sea’s icy cold waters, and navigating its many hazards along the way.
Frosthaven Into The Abyss will feature two new playable heroes, bringing their own tactical depths to your adventuring party. Coral channels the power of the sea, providing welcome battlefield positioning and control to encounters. Kelp is a powerful assassin, striking from the shadows, using trophies taken from their victims to further enhance their power.
For those looking for a new pet, the update contains Brummix, the hardest one to obtain in the game. Only the most observant heroes will be able to add this creature to their menagerie.
Lastly, Frosthaven Into The Abyss will contain the following quality-of-life updates and gameplay improvements:
- Town Hall Challenges: Nine new challenges are added, helping you bolster your town defenses
- Outpost Updates: Better clarity and progression tracking to the Outpost experience
- New Notification System: Get updates on Outpost activity and events between quests
- A Calendar System: Easier tracking of past and future gameplay and story events
- Character Retirement Flow Updates: Improved pacing to prevent interruptions during multiplayer sessions
- Blinkblade Card Layout Updates: Optional settings to reflect the original board game layout
- Advantage State Flow Upgrade: Expanded descriptions and clarity during combat and modifier selection
