Baldur’s Gate 3 Mod Support Coming in Patch 7 Alongside New Evil Endings

Larian has detailed what’s coming in Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7, and if you’ve been waiting for the chance to mod the celebrated CRPG, you won’t have to wait much longer.

Per a new Community Update on the game’s Steam pageBaldur’s Gate 3 mod support will finally be included as part of Patch 7, allowing you to change the game’s visuals, sounds, animations, and much more.

It’s worth noting that Larian says the patch will “begin” introducing the modding tools, so there’s a chance that not all of them will be available right from the off; you may have to wait a little while to get full access to Baldur’s Gate 3 modding.

Baldur’s Gate 3 modding is coming soon. You could turn this Spectator into anything!

Patch 7 will also introduce new evil endings, so if you’re taking a more morally bankrupt approach to Baldur’s Gate 3‘s story, then this is the update for you.

Larian is promising “even darker conclusions to your most sinister playthroughs”, and that includes non-Dark Urge players, so you don’t have to have picked that very specific origin in order to enjoy the new evil endings.

The endings will come with all-new cinematics, alongside music composed by award-winning Baldur’s Gate 3 composer Borislav Slavov, so this is no half-baked effort; the endings should slot nicely alongside the existing ones.

As well as all of this, Patch 7 will also fix a number of bugs, including Wyll acting cold to romantic partners, Jaheira refusing to enter combat, and “mysteriously disappearing Narrator lines”.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 promises to be a big one indeed.

As for the game’s future, crossplay and a Photo Mode are both on the cards, but Larian says these features will take a while owing to the “work required” in implementing them.

The studio also reiterates recent comments it made regarding a followup to Baldur’s Gate 3; Larian won’t be creating Baldur’s Gate 4, nor will the studio be making any expansions or adding any significant narrative content.

Instead, Swen Vincke’s studio will concentrate on the two projects it’s currently working on, for which Larian will “seize [the] opportunity to develop [its] own IPs”.

We’ll have to wait and see what Larian is working on. In the meantime, you can grab Baldur’s Gate 3 right now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Be sure to check out our review of it here if you want the lowdown.
