Battlefield 6’s RedSec battle royale mode has entirely changed the game. By that, I don’t mean the new gameplay that the mode has introduced, but the sheer number of microtransactions that have come with the season one update. Most of the goodwill that fans had for it has disappeared after they were greeted with a massive wave of monetization options.
With review scores for the game dropping, Dice will probably have to deal with this issue at some point. Just a few days ago, the only issues the devs had to deal with were smaller maps and brightly coloured skins – both of which are relatively easier to deal with than the monetization system that seems weaved into the very fabric of Battlefield 6. If it’s any consolation, that bright blue Wicked Grin skin is gone.
Battlefield 6 Removes The Bright Blue Skin
If you boot up Battlefield 6 right now and sift through all the microtransaction options, you’ll notice that the Wicked Grin variant of the default NATO assault outfit has quietly been removed by the devs. This could possibly vary, depending on the region you’re in, but it looks like Dice has either binned it permanently, or will reintroduce it with toned-down colours.
Only a couple of days ago, fans noticed that some of the other colourful skins in the game were being adjusted to look more grounded. In particular, a skin with neon green piping and layers, which looked like a Monster Energy collaboration, was changed to make the green much darker and akin to something you might actually see on a battlefield.
As for the Wicked Grin skin, there was nothing wrong with the overall outfit itself. Perhaps the devs could simply adjust the brightness of the blue to bring it more in line with what players have been asking for. Fans on Reddit have shown their appreciation for the devs, as it shows that they have actually been listening to the community.
Hopefully, this is just the first step in Dice addressing the overall issues that the community has with Battlefield 6, although, don’t get your hopes high on the monetization features.
