Best builds to win Nightfalls and Grandmaster Nightfalls in Destiny 2

Whether you’re trying to get a high score in Nightfall or are taking on a Grandmaster Nightfall in Destiny 2, you need to know a few tips and create the best builds. Since I consider myself well-versed in all things Destiny 2, here are the best builds to win Nightfalls and Grandmaster Nightfalls in Destiny 2.

How to counter Barrier, Unstoppable, and Overload Champions in Destiny 2

Though it isn’t as important in Nightfalls, it’s required that you have some way to deal with Barrier, Unstoppable, and Overload Champions in Grandmaster Nightfalls. This isn’t necessary with the best builds for Supremacy, but without a way to stun these high-powered opponents in PvE, you won’t make it far in Destiny 2 Grandmaster Nightfalls.

Here are all the ways to counter Barrier, Unstoppable, and Overload Champions in Destiny 2:

  • Barrier
    • Solar Radiant effects
    • Strand Unraveling weapon rounds
    • Void Volatile weapon rounds
    • Exotics with Pierce traits
    • Piercing weapons listed in the Seasonal Artifact
  • Unstoppable
    • Arc Blind effects
    • Solar Ignition effects
    • Stasis Shatter effects
    • Strand Suspend effects
    • Exotics with Unstoppable traits
    • Unstoppable weapons listed in the Seasonal Artifact
  • Overload
    • Arc Jolt effects
    • Stasis Slow effects
    • Void Suppression effects
    • Exotics with Overload traits
    • Overload weapons listed in the Seasonal Artifact

While utilizing the subclass verbs to stun Champions is important, the key to making a successful Nightfall build in Destiny 2 is using the perks in the Seasonal Artifact. This changes every season, so look carefully at the first column in the Seasonal Artifact and select the three or four perks with weapons you use the most. You should have at least one for every Champion type.

Best Hunter PvE build for Nightfall in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 Void Hunter Build Nightfalls

This Void Hunter build is the best PvE Grandmaster Nightfall build because it gives you plenty of Void Overshields, Devour, Invisibility, and Volatile Rounds which keeps you alive and constantly debuffs the enemy. There’s really nothing missing with this build considering you have a get-out-of-jail-free card with your Dodge making you Invisible and your finishers constantly debuff enemies and deal high AoE damage.

Here’s how to make the best Void Hunter PvE build for Grandmaster Nightfalls:

  • Abilities
    • Super – Shadowshot: Deadfall
    • Class Ability – Marksman’s Dodge
    • Jump – Triple Jump
    • Melee – Snare Bomb
    • Grenade – Vortex Grenade
  • Aspects
    • Vanishing Step – Dodging makes you invisible.
    • Stylish Executioner – Defeating a weakened, suppressed, or volatile target grants Invisibility and Truesight. After performing a Stylish Execution, your next melee attack while Invisible weakens targets.
  • Fragments
    • Echo of Cessation – Finisher final blows create a burst of Void damage that causes nearby combatants to become Volatile. Defeating Volatile targets creates a Void Breach
    • Echo of Undermining – Your Void grenades Weaken targets.
    • Echo of Persistence – Void buffs applied to your (Invisibility, Overshield, Devour) have increased duration.
    • Echo of Starvation – Picking up a Void Breach or an Orb of Power grants Devour.
  • Exotic Armor
    • Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk – Weapons ready and reload very quickly. Provides a small benefit to the airborne effectiveness of all weapons.
  • Weapons
    • Leviathan’s Breath and any Void Primary.
  • Armor Mods
    • Helmet – One Void Siphon, one Heavy Ammo Finder, one Dynamo.
    • Arms – One Void Loader, one Momentum Transfer, one Bolstering Detonation.
    • Chest – Two Void Resistance, one Concussive Dampener
    • Legs – One Recuperation, one Innervation, one Void Scavenger.
    • Class Item – One Proximity Ward, One Powerful Attraction, one Utility Kickstart.

With this build, all you need to do is use your Dodge to go Invisible. Exit Invisibility with your melee to deal more damage and you always automatically get Volatile Rounds thanks to Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk. Kill enemies with Volatile Rounds to get Orbs of Power and Void Breaches which gives you Devour and Overshield.

Go Invisible and use your finisher to increase weapon damage. Debuff enemies with Leviathan’s Breath, Shadhowshot, and your Vortex Grenade and you’ll be obliterating everything around you in no time.

Best Warlock PvE build for Nightfall in Destiny 2

Best Solar Warlock Build Nightfall Destiny 2

The best Warlock build for Grandmaster Nightfalls is Solar, of course. Instead of Sunbracers or Starfire Protocol, I recommend using Phoenix Protocol so you can pop your Well of Radiance as often as possible. This build is excellent at staying alive, buffing your team, and causing AoE damage.

Here’s how to make the Solar Warlock build that wrecks in any Nightfall:

  • Abilities
    • Super – Well of Radiance
    • Class Ability – Phoenix Dive
    • Jump – Burst Glide
    • Melee – Celestial Fire
    • Grenade – Healing Grenade
  • Aspects
    • Touch of Flame – Your Healing Grenade has improved strength to Cure and Restoration effects.
    • Heat Rises – You can fire weapons, melee, and throw grenades while gliding. Consume your grenade to gain Heat Rising and release a burst of healing that Cures you and nearby allies. The strength of the burst is increased when it’s a Healing Grenade. Final blows while airborne increase the duration of Heat Rises and grant melee energy.
  • Fragments
    • Ember of Benevolence – Applying Restoration, Cure, or Radiant to allies grants increased grenade, melee, and class ability regeneration for a short duration. -10 Discipline.
    • Ember of Char – Your Solar Ignitions spread Scorch to affected targets. +10 Discipline.
    • Ember of Torches – Powered melee attacks against combatants make you and nearby allies Radiant. -10 Discipline.
    • Ember of Empyrean – Solar weapon or ability final blows extend the duration of Restoration and Radiant effects applied to you. -10 Resilience.
  • Exotic Armor
    • Phoenix Protocol – Kills and assists while standing in your Well of Radiance return Super energy.
  • Weapons
    • Polaris Lance, Sunshot, or any Solar weapon with Incandescent.
  • Armor Mods
    • Helmet – One Solar Siphon, one Dynamo, one Heavy Ammo Finder.
    • Arms – One Solar Loader, one Impact Induction, one Focusing Strike.
    • Chest – One Solar Resistance, one Arc Resistance, one Void Resistance.
    • Legs – One Recuperation, one Invigoration, one Absolution.
    • Class Item – One Reaper, one Outreach, one Powerful Attraction.

The goal of this Solar Warlock build is to get your Well of Radiance as fast as possible. Use your Healing Grenade to keep yourself and your team alive and use your Celestial Fire to spread Scorch and give yourself and your allies Radiant.

After consuming your Healing Grenade to apply Cure to you and nearby allies, use your Phoenix Dive to get Restoration. Use Ember of Empyrean by getting kills with a Solar weapon to extend the duration of Restoration.

Best Titan PvE build for Nightfall in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 Strand Titan Nightfalls

Last but not least, Strand Titan is the best PvE build for Grandmaster Nightfalls. War Banner, Frenzied Blade, and Woven Mail are your best friends with this Strand Titan build. You know what to do, bonk lords.

Copy or use this strand Titan build outline as a template to dominate Grandmaster Nightfalls:

  • Abilities
    • Super – Bladefury
    • Class Ability – Rally Barricade
    • Jump – Catapult Lift
    • Melee – Frenzied Blade
    • Grenade – Grapple
  • Aspects
    • Into the Fray – Destroying a Tangle or casting your Super grants Woven Mail for nearby allies. While you have Woven Mail, your melee regeneration rate is increased.
    • Banner of War – Defeat a target with a melee attack, finisher, or Sword to raise a Banner of War that pulses with energy, periodically healing nearby allies and increasing melee and Sword damage. Targets defeated by you and nearby allies charge the banner, increasing the speed of its pulses.
  • Fragments
    • Thread of Warding: Picking up an Orb of Power grants Woven Mail. -10 Resilience.
    • Thread of Transmutation: While you have Woven Mail, weapon final blows create a Tangle. +10 Strength.
    • Thread of Fury: Damaging targets with a Tangle grants melee energy. -10 Strength.
    • Thread of Propagation: Powered melee final blows grant your Strand weapons Unraveling Rounds. +10 Strength.
  • Exotic Armor
    • Wormgod Caress – Defeating a target with melee or a finisher grants escalating melee damage, which decays over time. Higher levels of Burning Fists grant increased weapon damage.
  • Weapons
    • Tractor Cannon, and Strand weapon, any Shotgun with One-Two Punch.
  • Armor Mods
    • Helmet – Two Strand Siphon, one Hands-On.
    • Arms – Three Heavy Handed.
    • Chest – One Melee Damage Resistance, one Strand Damage Resistance, one Arc Damage Resistance.
    • Legs – Two Invigoration, one Recuperation
    • Class Item – One Special Finisher, one Outreach, one Powerful Attraction.

The playstyle of this Strand Titan build is to use your One-Two Punch Shotgun to melee enemies which produces Banner of War and Wormgod Caress. Defeat enemies quickly with your Strand weapon to spawn Orbs of Power which give you Woven Mail. With Woven Mail and Banner of War, you’re an unstoppable tank.

While you have Woven Mail, keep getting weapon kills to spawn Tangles. Use the Tangles to defeat groups of enemies which gives you more melee energy. Get melee kills and rinse and repeat. With this build, you can easily get in the top 10% in Nightfall.
