The FromSoftware modding community has been quite busy since the release of Elden Ring. While every official Soulsborne title has its fair share of excellent mods, Elden Ring has definitely taken the cake with how much more popular it is than its predecessors. While we’ve already discussed some Elden Ring mods in the past, the fun really begins with the most expansive of gameplay mods.

Elden Ring: 7 Ways To Increase Max Health

You will need as much health as possible in The Lands Between.

As massive as Elden Ring is, there’s no shortage of fans who want to squeeze as much juice out of this behemoth as they can. PC mods are one of the best ways to do that. If you’re looking for major expansions or quality of life tweaks, these mods will leave you satisfied.

10 NPCs And Bosses Spirit Summons

Whilst the base game only allows you to summon humanoid side-quest characters, the NPCs and Bosses Spirit Summons mod is a huge overhaul to the single-player experience. You’re no longer limited to summoning characters with their own quest lines. You can fight alongside some of the most powerful beings in the entire game.

Malenia, Radagon, Ranni, Sellen and many more can be summoned at various locations, including the fiercest bosses themselves. Several minibosses are also available for summons as well, including the dreaded Crucible Knights.

9 Great Rune Overhaul

The Great Rune system is one of the coolest features Elden Ring added to the franchise, but it is a bit of a shame that some of their effects are quite simple. With the Great Rune Overhaul mod, all seven Great Runes have been spiced up with more passive bonuses and effects.

Mohg’s Great Rune, for example, now adds a passive buff blood loss of 50. It’s even accompanied by a new visual effect. The fan favorite Godrick’s rune now adds an item discovery bonus, giving it a little more substance than the flat stat buff of before.

8 Survival Mode

Survival mechanics and open world level design have gone hand-in-hand for quite some time now. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Elden Ring could receive that treatment? Well, it already has, thanks to the Survival Mode mod.

There are some great incantations to have fun with by delving into the Dragon Communion in Elden Ring.

This mod adds several survival-based modifiers that will make your journeys across the Lands Between much more exciting and perilous. Disease, cold and hot temperatures, thirst and hunger must now all be accounted for, no matter where you are. The mod also makes nights even darker, so stealth and visibility become more prominent factors.

7 Elden Ring Fog Gate Randomizer

Though you may have already heard of the Item and Enemy Randomizer, one of the most popular Elden Ring mods of all time, you may not have heard of its younger sibling mod. The Fog Gate Randomizer is an especially interesting mod to implement in an open world game, as you can no longer rely on the standard sequences or paths.

Randomizer mods are fun because they can turn any game into an almost rougelike experience. You never know what you’re going to get, or in this case, where you’re going to end up.

6 Rings of Talent

Elden Ring is a game that, surprisingly, doesn’t have very many rings. Though there are talismans, they aren’t quite the same. The Rings of Talent mod may seem like your standard talisman adjustment mod, but it’s actually a robust class mod in disguise.

Once you equip one of the 15 added rings or talismans, your character will adopt the stats and looks of an all-new class, from Dragon Rider to Cyromancer. Only one Ring of Talent can be equipped at a time, so experiment and find out which class fits your playstyle best.

5 First Person Souls

As with survival mechanics, the first person camera is something that most people tend to associate with open world gaming. Though FromSoftware isn’t known for their first-person games these days, you can channel the atmosphere of King’s Field by installing First Person Souls.

Elden Ring: 8 Best Places To Farm Runes

From the early game until after you beat the final boss, these are the best places to farm lots of Runes in Elden Ring.

The HUD is implemented very well with this mod, especially with the added archery crosshairs. More importantly, fighting the toughest bosses in first-person from Lichdragon Fortissax to Maliketh, the Black Blade makes the game feel entirely different. It’s a simple but very effective way to re-experience Elden Ring.

4 Elden Ring Dark Moon

Fans of mods for Dark Souls 1-3 are probably no stranger to major gameplay overhaul mods, which is why the Dark Moon mod is a must-play for those who love rebalanced mechanics and new items.

Dark Moon is a highly expansive mod that adds new armor, merchants, spells and even new areas such as the Colosseum. It also sports its own combat overhaul which will keep older players on their toes. If you enjoy mastering new systems and collecting new sets of gear, Dark Moon will feel like a breath of fresh air.

3 Grand Merchant

As simple as this mod may seem, the Grand Merchant can be used in very creative ways, especially for fans of New Game Plus. This mod grants you access to most items that can be purchased from the dozens of merchants spread across the game. All you must do is speak to Kale, the first accessible merchant in the game located at the Church of Elleh.

With so many items at your disposal from the beginning of the game, you can get to work crafting your preferred build as soon as possible. This will make your next playthrough of Elden Ring very exciting and fresh.

2 Carian Combo Warriors

The Tarnished Warrior approaches a mob of magic-wielding enemies.

Knowing your weapon movesets inside and out is one of the most important things to learn when getting good at Elden Ring. But what if there were a mod that drastically altered the movesets of your favorite swords, katanas and twinblades?

Carian Combo Warriors is a great way to make Elden Ring play faster and feel flashier. Keep in mind that these movesets are generally regarded to be OP, so unless you don’t mind a considerably easier experience, you will be best off installing this mod during the late-game or in New Game Plus.

1 The Convergence

The Convergence is one of the biggest mods ever released for Elden Ring. It adds so much new content that it feels like an expansion or a DLC. With 27 new classes, many new bosses and weapons and dozens of hours of new content, this is definitely one mod to rule them all.

Not only is Convergence very easy to install, but it adds many new systems and mechanics. Every erdtree has a teleportal that can bring you to late-game locations quickly for risky players who want to challenge themselves early. Conversely, acquiring spells and incantations is much easier, so fans of magic builds can get to work much faster than before.
