Pokémon GO City Safari season is back, with events in Bangkok, Amsterdam, Cancún, Valencia, and Vancouver taking place September 27th and 28th, with tons of bonuses and Pokémon available! Here’s our list of Pokémon worth catching during these events:
Top Pokémon for Gameplay (PvP and Raids)
Mankey
Mankey evolves into Primeape, and then Annihilape. Both of these Pokémon are strong choices for the Great League. Annihilape is also a good choice for the Ultra League and Master League. Though some things to keep in mind are that Shadow Annihilape generally does better than non-shadow in the Ultra League and the Master League, and you also want the legacy move Rage Fist to Annihilape to perform its best.
Other than PvP, Annihilape, especially in its shadow form, is also a good fighting and ghost-type raid attacker.
Krabby
Krabby’s evolution, Kingler, is one of the best water-type raid attackers, both in its regular and shadow variants. Not only that, Kingler has a Gigantamax form, which is very strong as well. While Gigantamax Kingler is only available through Max Battles, this is still a good opportunity to get some candies!
Phanpy
Donphan is a solid ground-type raid attacker, especially in its shadow form. It has some spice/limited meta play in the Great League as well.
Archen
Archeops, Archen’s evolution, is a pretty decent rock-type raid attacker, in particular in its shadow form.
Clauncher
Clauncher evolves into Clawitzer, which is a solid water-type raid attacker despite not having a shadow variant.
Goomy
Goomy’s final evolution is Goodra, which is a fantastic Pokémon for the Great League and the Master League, though it’s not as great in the Ultra League. It can also be an okay-ish dragon-type raid attacker if you’re lacking in options.
Smoliv
Its final evolution, Arboliva, can be an okay raid attacker with Magical Leaf and Seed Bomb. Not fantastic by any means, but it can help get the job done if you’re lacking in options.
Top Pokémon for Collecters
These Pokémon may or may not provide gameplay benefits; however, they make for great collector’s items:
Costume Eevee Line
As a part of the Safari City exclusive research, you will get an Eevee with a unique outfit. Any of Eevee’s evolutions will also have the hat if you evolve this Eevee. This Eevee can be shiny as well. That would certainly make for a very rare catch!
Unown
These Unown will be available to catch in the wild during the Safari City event. If you’ve taken the daunting task of catching every shiny Unown, you don’t want to miss these!
Sigilyph
Sigilyph is a Pokémon that is typically only available in Greece and Egypt. However, it will be available in every location where City Safari is taking place this year. It’s shiny will be available as well!
Conclusion
