Fortnite likes to refresh its loot pool every season or so, with new chapters adding new weapons and items to try out. This means that your go-to load-out could change with each season and chapter that passes.
Some players like to choose weapons that may fit their play style, but usually, it is worth trying each one to see if it works for you. There is usually a few weapons that players gravitate towards thanks to their power and playability. Here is everything you need to know about which are the best weapons in this season of Fortnite.
Fortnite Weapons Tier List
The weapons in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1 can be sorted into a few simple tiers based on their effectiveness. This season is one of the most balanced we have had for a while, with no one weapon being too overpowered. The weapons are sorted into these tiers:
- S Tier — the most powerful weapons of the season.
- A Tier — balanced but strong.
- B Tier — good weapons but worth swapping out for a higher-tier item.
- C Tier — not worth picking up if there is another option.
Each weapon has strengths and weaknesses in different situations; shotguns and SMGs are strongest at short range, while assault rifles and snipers are best at mid-to long-range fights. This means we won’t be comparing a sniper against a shotgun, but rather judging each weapon on how it performs in an appropriate situation.
If you feel more at ease using an SMG over a shotgun, then the Holo Rush is a great choice as it can be great at close and mid-range thanks to its scope.
Weapon rarities play a part in the overall damage output of each weapon and can influence whether you want to swap out a previously coveted weapon for a higher-rarity version of its less powerful counterpart. For example, we wouldn’t recommend choosing the Twin Hammer shotgun over the Iron Pump shotgun. However, if you defeat Beach Brutus and have the chance to pick up the Mythic Twin Hammers, you should definitely do so.
The recommended loadout is:
- Iron Pump Shotgun (mythic is available)
- Deadeye Assault Rifle (mythic if available)
- Wingsuit
- Chug Jug
The basic tier list for this season (including mythic rarities) plays out like this:

S Tier Weapons
|
Weapon |
Guide |
Tier |
|---|---|---|
|
Iron Pump Shotgun |
Acts most like the old Thunder Pump shotgun with decent damage to players but low damage to structures. Legendary rarity can deal enough damage in one headshot to take out all health and shield. |
S |
|
Deadeye Assault Rifle |
The DPS is just high enough, and the recoil is practically zero, so you can get those shots in easily. The added scope reduces bloom when you aim down the sights. |
S |
|
Enforcer Assault Rifle |
There is no scope, but the DPS is good with this AR. Add to that the super low recoil and high single-shot damage, it is going to be in many people’s meta loadout. |
S |
|
Mythic Iron Pump Shotgun |
We would take the mythic Iron Pump over the Twin Hammer mythic, but either are powerful enough to use for close range fights. |
S |
|
Mythic Deadeye Assault Rifle |
A mythic version of the Deadeye, it is certainly worth seeking out by defeating Hush, thanks to its high damage. |
S |
|
Mythic Twin Hammer Shotgun |
This is far superior to its regular counterpart, dealing super high damage and allowing you to two-tap someone at close range. |
S |
|
Mythic Enforcer Assault Rifle |
If you can, swap out your existing regular AR for one of the two mythic assault rifles for the huge increase in damage. |

Tier |
|---|---|---|
|
Holo Rush SMG |
This is a great weapon with high DPS, and can be used effectively at mid-range. It doesn’t deal as much damage as the ARs, nor is it as accurate as the Deadeye, but its scope adds to its appeal and accuracy. |
A |
|
Arc-Lightning Gun |
A surprisingly good gun to have in your loadout, usually to replace an SMG. The continuous lightning zap can rip through an enemy pretty quickly from close-mid range, but won’t replace an AR as its range is not huge. |
A |
|
Vengeful Sniper Rifle |
Not a bad sniper, but it does take multiple shots, even if they are headshots, to take someone out entirely. For this reason, it does not reach the S Tier. |
A |
|
Mythic Arc-Lightning Gun |
A little more powerful than its regular version, but not powerful enough to jump to S Tier. It is worth swapping out your low rarity SMG for this. |

B Tier Weapons

Tier |

|
Twin Hammer Shotgun |
Similar to a Tactical shotgun, with medium damage and a good fire rate. It is very balanced, not particularly overpowered, but we wouldn’t choose a high-rarity Twin Hammer over a mid-rarity Iron Pump. |
B |
|
Dual Micro SMG |
Very fast fire rate which makes it great at very close range, but it has a small clip size, meaning you have to reload a lot during a fight. |
B |
|
Tactical Pistol |
The pistol hasn’t changed in the last few seasons. It is a solid choice for close and mid range, but its recoil is too high to make it too powerful. |
B |
C Tier Weapons

Tier |

Grenades |
Good for taking out structures, but not much else. These should be the first to be swapped out for a mobility item or meds. |
C |
|
Clingers |
Can only be found in Hot Air Balloon loot spots, and are just fine. Nothing too special. |
C |
|
Dynamite |
Good for exploding structures. |
C |
|
Forsaken Vow Blade |
Too low damage rate to be worth picking up for anything but a mobility aid or to complete The Bride quests. |
