Best Withered Knight Build for PvP & PvE in Mistfall Hunter

Overcoming every encounter in Mistfall Hunter requires a strong class to beat every enemy (both in PvP and PvE) and the Withered Knight is the one you should pick if you want to become truly OP. With unparalleled combos, able to parry, counter, and apply crippling debuffs to his rivals, the Withered Knight takes advantage of his superior and overwhelming strength to crush both monsters and humans.

This class is a bruiser on paper, but it’s also tanky enough to overcome most challenges without dying in the attempt. If players want to learn about its skills and how to wield them in battle, then they’ve come to the right place: This guide offers a rundown on all the Withered Knights Skills, Passive Paths, Perks, ideal equipment, combos, and battle tactics.

Withered Knight Strengths & Weaknesses (Overview)

The Withered Knight in Mistfall Hunter is a powerful Melee Bruiser/Chaser class that can overcome most challenges through brute force, but at the same time, is equipped with high-end dueling skills that allow the player to perform feats such as stunning, pulling, cursing foes, and executing powerful combos that end with burst damage that, in most cases, eliminates the foe.

No class in the game can eat a Withered Knight full combo and survive the blast from Execute after Wither is applied to them. In more advanced builds (the higher the level, the more resources and skills this class has), it will obliterate even the Mercenary in a one-versus-one encounter.

The Withered Knight is also the best class to counter the Shadowstrix’s powerful burst damage Ambush/Death Mark combo, by parrying and gaining Super Armor. Many Shadowstrix players watch in awe as their well-planned strategies dissolve in a myriad of blade blows that send them packing after a Withered Knight parries and follows up with a counterattack.

So, in terms of raw power, this class is top tier, but let’s take a look at its pros and cons in more detail:

Strengths

Weaknesses

High damage, fast combos, tons of tools for engaging. Can nullify Shadowstrix’s combo with Parry.

The gameplay can become repetitive. Not for impatient players.

Primed mobility abilities and branching skill trees. The best at engaging.

Only one weapon, less versatile than other classes.

Easy to learn, very satisfying to master.

Relies too much on Tactical Items and Consumables.

Strong at one vs. groups. Great at dealing with Bosses.

Valuable in Trios, but easy to isolate and kill with ranged attacks.

Unmatched one-versus-one response.

Slow exploration. Takes more time to move around and loot.

Advanced payoffs. Snowballs into an immortal behemoth that cannot be stopped. It slows foes, curses them, cripples their armor and attack, and then makes them explode for a burst of healing.

This trade-off carries a risk: If you miss the final combo chain, you eat the curses instead and receive damage.

Can resurrect allies, shield them, become an unbreachable shield wall. Stop boss attacks, impale enemy players, and crush them against a wall.

Polearm and Shield Build sacrifices lots of damage to gain the strongest tank skills in the game.

So, in terms of its advanced tactics, we could say that the Withered Knight can evolve into either a duelist or a berserker. Its two distinctive weapons are a Polearm and Shield, and a Greatsword, making it the second-best Tank class in the game, but the strongest frontline in terms of damage and resilience.

Best Withered Knight Build for PvP in Mistfall Hunter

The Withered Knight dominates in PvP encounters. Able to pull enemies, stun them, stagger them, and execute them mercilessly with brutal combo chains. For those who enjoy playing Solo, the Greatsword build is the optimal choice, and for those who enjoy a more tactical approach to combat, Polearm and Shield are the answer.

These are the basic skills you need to equip for a Solo Wither Knight PvP build. It is balanced, focuses on Super Armor and Parry, allowing you to survive for longer during encounters, and to obliterate any Sorcerer, Shadowstrix, Mercenary, or Seer you cross paths with. It has tons of mobility, damage, and sustain thanks to Legacy.

Withered Knight Basic Skills

Skills:

  • Withering Mark: Swing your weapon to unleash Judgement Energy that hits foes and applies Wither.
  • Breakthrough Charge: A high mobility skill that performs a two-stage dash attack. Pressing the light attack button will dash in a leftward arc, performing a sweep (AoE slash). Pressing the heavy attack button will dash in a rightward arc, performing the same sweep in the opposite direction. Perfect for tricking/baiting opponents and then flanking them.
  • Parry: Assumes a defensive stance and absorbs all hits for 5 seconds. After 5 seconds, press light attack to perform a frontal sweeping strike that Staggers foes. Pressing heavy attack will perform a long-distance dash to strike with a heavy blow. Both counterattacks apply Wither.
  • Thorn Guide: Pulls the opponents, unless they have Super Armor. If targets have Super Armor or are invulnerable, you will dash towards them.

Talents:

Withered Knight Talents Active

Pick these talents in order as top priority to unlock the full potential of this build:

  • Crime + Bad Karma + Legacy: Picking these will reduce the damage of Execution (triggering Wither) but will extend the duration of Wither, then applying Wither successively will apply other debuffs, reducing movement speed, applying Vulnerability (increases final damage taken from combo chains), and applying a DoT effect. Legacy then consumes all those debuffs to heal the Wither Knight when the enemies die.
  • Greatsword Specialization: Critical – Allows you to equip an extra Greatsword Skill (it also reduces the number of Polearm & Shield Skills equipped by 1).
  • Seize Opportunity: Allows you to combo a Pursuit after every Greatsword skill is cast. This empowers the Parry and Breakthrough Charge final attack into a powerful barrage of attacks that destroys the opponents.
  • Righteous Creed: Each time you Execute an opponent (triggering Wither mark) briefly increases your attack damage. This can be endlessly activated thanks to the Crime/Bad Karma/Legacy synergies.
  • Unstoppable: Enables Super Armor during Parry Counterattacks (makes you invulnerable while moving and performing the branching attack).
  • Dominance: Grants Super Armor to branching attacks made with Breakthrough Charge.
  • Grappling Hook: Thorn Guide can now interact with the environment (walls, objects, etc.) to pull you towards it. Great for getting in and out of battle.

For Equipment and Victory Wine, prioritize the following Passives and Buffs:

  • Fervid: Reduces skill energy cost and increases damage while you are above 70% health.
  • Tenacious: Grants max health and healing efficiency (synergy with Legacy).
  • Burst: Increases the damage of Execution on Wither.

For a more aggressive build, replace Grappling Hook with Joint Pierce, which adds movement speed reduction to the Thorn Guide pull.

Best Withered Knight Build for PvE in Mistfall Hunter

Focusing on the Withered Knight alternate weapon, the Polearm and Shield, will result in one of the strongest frontliners in the game. With a high sustain capability, able to shield his allies, buff himself, and block damage from the most powerful bosses in the Gyldenmist-plagued lands, the Withered Knight Vanguard build is what you need for PvE encounters in groups:

Skills:

  • Spear Barrage: Your basic damage skill, unlocked from the start. This is a must-have in every Polearm and Shield build. It has decent burst damage, and applies Wither.
  • Rainbow Piercer: Hold the skill to charge with reduced maneuverability. At the end of the charge, it releases a violent spear thrust that empowers the weapon with Judgement. While charging, the Withered Knight is Shielded (blocks attacks).
  • Sacred Bulwark: Creates an impassable barrier in front of the Withered Knight. Nothing can pass through the barrier, and no damage can break it as long as it is maintained. Releasing the skill will launch a burst attack in an AoE cone that pushes back foes and does a bit of damage. Very useful against bosses and to block other players from accessing Arenas.
  • Intervene: Targets an ally and dashes toward it, pushing back foes in a circular AoE. While dashing, the Withered Knight gains super armor. Upon landing, it grants a damage-reduction shield to itself and the allies within range.

Talents:

  • Polearm & Shield Specialization: Critical; this enables an extra active skill while using Polearms and Shields.
  • Rising Morale + Momentum Shift + Shield Wall Slam: These Core Archetype skills will turn the Withered Knight into a high-mobility tank that can quickly cover for his allies and adapt to every situation. They empower the Charging Dash mechanic and enable dodging while charging with the Shield, and also grant super armor, the dash distance of all Shield Skills, and allow shield bashes to Execute enemies affected by Wither.
  • Endless Flow + Buildup: Endless Flow enables the Withered Knight’s Spear Barrage to be cast indefinitely as long as it has energy. Buildup grants Charged Dash charges for every cycle of Spear Barrage cast.
  • Unbreakable: Greatly improves the durability of Sacred Bulwark and its effectiveness against Boss Attacks.
  • Crushing Force: Grants super armor while using Rainbow Piercer. Extremely effective against player ambushes.
  • Fight to the Death: Rainbow Piercer can now push back smaller enemies (not elites) and enemy players, impaling them and preventing them from using Breakaway (extremely effective against Shadowstrix). It cannot push units with Super Armor or in a Frozen state.
  • Guardian: Increases the radius at which Intervene applies the Shield effect.
  • Swift Vanguard: Intervene’s buff now also grants movement speed to all allies in range.
  • Succor: Casting Intervene on a downed ally will mark him with Redemption Mark (cannot be executed and will resurrect after a few seconds). The mark can be broken if the ally sustains a certain amount of impact damage.
