Bethesda drops unusual tease that it’ll have Starfield news for us “next week”

Bethesda has teased that we can expect new information about Starfield “next week”.

As the press picked up the story Starfield composer and long-time Bethesda collaborator Inon Zur believed Bethesda boss Todd Howard to be a “visionary” – as well as his belief that “people were just not ready for” 2023’s divisive space adventure – the official Bethesda X/Twitter account hopped onto a social media thread to reveal we can expect more Starfield intel soon.

Responding to an X post by PC Gamer, the official Bethesda account wrote: “We ran this by Todd [Howard], and he said his only visionary power is seeing running lanes in EA College Football 26. He appreciates all the passionate feedback on Starfield and we’ll have more to share next week.”

Admittedly, that’s not usually how we’re used to getting information from publishers, but it does tie in with the rumour that Starfield’s PS5 release date is now locked in for 7th April this year, and pre-orders will go live on 18th March. Watch this space, I guess.

We said that “Starfield pairs near-impossible breadth with a classic Bethesda aptitude for systemic physics, magnetic sidequests, and weird vignettes,” in our 3-star Eurogamer review, adding: “But in sacrificing direct exploration for the sake of sheer scale, there’s nothing to bind it together.”
