system seller… it only sold 2M units lmao
I know for me I’m still waiting for the physical Switch 2 version of Sonic Racing Crossworlds. It doesn’t make any sense why it’s taking so long. So many people also got burned on not getting an upgrade for Sonic X Shadow Generations so they may have been hesitant and assuming there is no upgrade again, even though there actually is this time. It’s on them though for this.
So far mhs3 is good
The fact Sega games get glazed online so much but have such poor sales is a timely reminder the internet is not a reliable source for public opinion.
Happy they have a system seller but, definitely not my style of game. Hopefully this game helps bring titles I do want to play like Metaphor Refantazio.
pokopia looks really great
Where are those sega power games they revealed at tgs? Wheres the shinobi dlc? Sega pissin me off lol
SEGA is dropping every ball they can drop. Keeping a groper on their staff, going all in on game key cards, going extra hard on multiple versions you can't transfer over, even after Nintendo explicitly has mechanics in place to prevent people from having to buy the same game over and over (not just Switch to SW2, but also not having to buy the local version of a game they imported)
You’re right about the marketing of Metaphor. I have a PS5 It’s one of my favorite games of all time but my buddy told me it even existed.
I am excited to see how much this game moves units here in the states.
Sega needs to learn from other companies so they don't get shut down.
11:13 The third party and added Sonic DLC characters don't have voices.
The Yoshi art style looks really nice, but honestly, it’s tough to hear about Sega’s struggles it’s unfortunate, but as you said a lot of self-inflicted wounds with marketing and their releases over the past decade and a half conditioning their audience. Ouch
So I think the royal editon is fine… hear me out, they just need to give the upgrade to the game to the people that already bought it instead of making exclusive to the new version. Giving new content to a game people already bought and enjoyed is always a win for gamers and will earn brand loyalty.
I want that Nintendo Switch 2! If I win the giveaway, I'll keep my promise to stream Resident Evil Biohazard, Village, and Requiem!! I also want Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave AND Pokemon Wind/Waves!!
Trying to either save up or luckily win a Switch 2. I already own one, but I’m trying to get one for my uncle who recently lost his wife who was a huge Zelda fan.
The grifters were wrong again……….😂
Sega main reasons why they struggling with sales are:
– lack of marketing, especially for non Sonic / Yakuza / Persona titles (Shinobi and Raidou were well recaived but like always no one bought them, just like earlier with Soul Hackers 2, Sakura Wars, Valkyria Chronicles 4, Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble, Samba De Amigo: Party Central etc.)
– lack of diversity of portfolio compared to Capcom and other big japanese publishers, they too much depends of 3-4 overused IP's and never give a REAL chance for other IP's (they give too low budget for other games from other series), too much Yakuza & Sonic slop while we waiting for example 8 years for next Valkyria Chronicles game
– too high price and very their games are in sales very quickly, especially Sonic & Yakuza games (due to yearly slop release), let's be real Sega is not AAA publsiher anymore like 25 years ago, they need lower price to own games and stop asking 70-80$ for Sonic game LOL
– terrible release dates especially for non Sonic / Yakuza titles, Shinobi was released in same time with Silksong, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill f, and Ninja Gaiden Ragebound, Raidou Remastered in same week with Persona 5X, Sonic Crossworlds in same time with Mario Kart World.
– main reason: most of Sonic / Yakuza / Persona fanbase don't buy games from other series from Sega, which means Sega basically created 3 big toxic fanbases who throws money only for those 3 IP's, while most of Sony, Nintendo, Capcom, Square Enix, Bandai Namco fans buying basically everything from them
I would love to have Metaphor on the NS2 and I agree with OJ there has to be a way to upgrade a game instead of buying it again… I played and beaten SMT V but didn’t play vengeance version bc I had to buy the “new upgraded “ game
I just bought the Switch 2 just for this game, and of course, Fire Emblem and Xenoblade.
It’s mind blowing that pokopia has become a system seller
I'm getting Pokopia for my daughter and my brother
Just subbed but been watching a while. As a lifelong Sonic fan… it’s been hard to see their ups and downs. But when they drop bangers they drop good stuff. I do believe the discount situation is a problem. Hopefully as they get constant solid entries the core fan base will grow and in time that’ll fix the issue. Just thoughts.
Sega make moves like square enix do back in early 2020. And end the same results
Never thought a game like pokopia would get me hyperfixated on the switch 2 but here we are
I came for the chance at a free swtich 2, but these videos are actually pretty good and I'm finding myself actually keeping up with them 👀
Lol you at 130k subscribers and you are basically trying to take advantage of 20k more viewers with one of them getting a switch 2 lol stop doing content for money and attention and grow up. The fact you did that I'm probably not going to subscribe
Am okay 20 gigs. bigger better to me add more and more super size it yeah I want it make space or buy an SSD more memory no problem I fit so many on it so true
Sega need Nintendo, why? Nintendo owns JAPAN!
Am happy it hit 2 Milly it's silly in 4 days when pump up more copies it can hit high then that bring peaceful back
Player. If Atlus had switch 2 dev kits in 2024. Metaphor would have been a switch 2 launch lineup game last year. With Nintendo being cagey about giving developers switch 2 dev kits at first. This could have contributed to Sega bad sales. I'm just guessing.
1:42 I think what makes this different not only its gameplay but also the fact that it’s co developed by Gamefreak which means it’s getting way more marketing that the spin offs do
Spin offs don’t really get heavy marketing like the Gamefreak made games do
Also Pokopia is likely canon
Looks fun
Why am I blocked by you on Twitter idk what I did oj
Let’s gooo, let’s win!
Pokopia, much like DQB, is one of those games you can start building/repairing roads in and the next thing you know it's 2 AM. And then tell yourself okay just ten more minutes because you want to extend the road to a specific place, and oops now it's 3 AM. 😂It's just an endless litany of self-motivated things to do, on top of the things the game actually prescribes to do. And so far somehow none of that ever feels boring or repetitive to me. Just kind of meditative and contenting lol.
While I don't personally care terribly much how well something I enjoy sells, the success of this game is still notable just from a proportional standpoint as a spinoff. For anyone skeptical of whether it's a "system seller," 2.2 million is a more than 10% attach rate in four days on the market even if Switch 2 has sold 20 million units by now, let alone the 19 million their projections have aimed for by this month or less.
I knew from anecdotes it was popular, but if even a fraction of those sales are new people adopting the system, when an install base is still relatively small, that's definitely moving the needle in terms of sales vs base adoption before that. And you can see exactly that in the numbers in Japan and the surge in console sales that accompanied it.
People claiming it's just due to low allotment and isn't "actually selling that well" because they don't find the game personally appealing or can't understand why it's popular with certain audiences, are simply wrong.
At Best sonic Crossworlds is a crappy version of MK eight
I thought Nintendo main stream games will not have key cards?
Won't be surprised if Pokopia gets a proper physical cart after all this success. I get the impression this was a big suprise hit given the undersupply (think I heard it about half of physical stock comapred to ZA). Mabey it will get a bundle as well for the holidays.
Wonder if were gonna get a dragon quest builder 3 as a result of this i'd be very happy if that was the case.
GET SONIC OUT OF HERE!!!!!
SEGA said their games are not AAA budget but they put AAAA price for some reason
