Borderlands 4 can be a very busy game. Even without all the explosions and special effects caused by busted builds and powerful armaments, you have colorful weaponry flying out of enemies too. It’s why we love the series so much, as Borderlands wouldn’t be Borderlands if its gunfights weren’t chaotic, colorful brawls almost every single time.
However, this focus on chaos does have its downsides. In some cases, fights can get a little too busy, as you’ll lose track of enemies and have difficulties seeing through all the effects. This is made ten times worse due to how intricately designed certain weapons are, and while aiming down the sights in most first-person shooters is meant to improve your accuracy, it can actually have the opposite effect in Borderlands 4.
Borderlands 4 Fans Really Hate The Game’s Scopes
This problem was a recent topic of discussion on the Borderlands 4 subreddit, as a user called Glimmerware voiced their complaint about aiming down the sights being “a visual detriment in combat.” In their post, they also attached a screenshot of a weapon they’re using that has a particularly intricate scope design, which has various glowing parts and only a small section that you can actually see through clearly.
In the replies, there are loads of other players voicing similar complaints, such as a user called -Xannyklause, who expresses their annoyance when trying to hit critical points on enemies. In the end, they admit to eventually giving up and just hip firing instead. It seems as though their struggles are shared with plenty of others though, with people calling sights and scopes in Borderlands 4 “cluttery” and pointless.
Thankfully, players have been getting around the problem with the aforementioned hipfiring, and by using Jakobs weapons, which have naturally more simplistic scopes. One user even wishes that the game had a workbench that allowed you to tweak your scopes, or just simply remove them, which is a pretty decent idea I reckon. Get on it Gearbox, the fans demand it.
