Loot is everything in the Borderlands series. The only reason we’re killing so many bad guys and collecting so much loot is to use it on harder enemies and get better loot. Long time fans even farm bosses to get the exact variant of a gun they want. Unfortunately, sometimes this loot escapes you in Borderlands 4.
Sometimes games bug out and bosses may not drop the loot you want. At other times the loot might fall through the floor, leaving you rewardless for your efforts. But the biggest such complaint in Borderlands 4 is when bosses launch loot directly off the side of a cliff, especially for fights like Primordial Guardian Origo. It seems Gearbox has finally addressed this.
Borderlands 4 Loot No Longer Falls Off Cliffs
As showcased by someshooter on Reddit, boss loot will now bounce off an invisible wall if it’s about to fall off a cliff. The issue was particularly annoying in encounters like the one with Origo, as it’s on a small floating island, rather than a closed room or out in the open world. Players would constantly see their loot fall into the void, and not appear later in the Lost Loot machine.
Now that most players have finished the game, leveled up their Vault Hunters, and created powerful builds, the boss fight doesn’t take much time and the frustration of losing loot is softened. But it was another story when the game first launched, and you were hoping to get a damage upgrade, only to see it sail over your head and into the void.
This change probably came with the last weekly update for Borderlands 4, along with an easier way to farm the Bod shotgun, and an unintentional return of the crit knife meta. Thankfully, the devs have been listening to the community, and have fixed some of the smaller issues. However, larger issues like the confusing UI will probably come with a major title update, if at all.
Adding an invisible wall to save the loot is a relatively simple idea, but it ideally should have been there at launch. Fans have complained about some confusing decisions that the devs have made, with the UI being the main one. Other complaints include separate invisible walls that make the open world seem less open, and the extremely shallow Horrors of Kairos Halloween event.
