It turns out we can have both.
Infinity Ward has made at least one crowd pleasing decision for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
The official Call of Duty Twitter account made this announcement:
Reach Level 55 and choose how you want to Prestige. Modern Warfare 4 features 10 Prestige levels, with two paths to choose from each time you enter a new Prestige.
- Classic Prestige: Reset Level Unlocks and Create-a-Class progress for a 20% XP boost, a Permanent Unlock Token, and bonus cosmetic rewards
- Regular Prestige: Restart at Level 1 while keeping your unlocked content
- Most Prestige rewards are shared, but Classic Prestige includes bonus rewards
This should end the debate on prestige systems, and it’s a rare instance of the Call of Duty teams finding a way to please everyone. Furthermore, allowing players to switch between both with every prestige allows players to experiment and find what’s best for them. We’ll see if mixing it up will turn out to be the best min/max meta.
