Capcom Announces Powerful Financial Results as Resident Evil 4 Has Sold 6.48 Million Copies

Capcom published its financial results for the 9 months ended on December 31, 2023, and they continue to be extremely strong.

According to the documents shared by Capcom, net sales for the whole company were 106,179 million yen (up 33.3% year-on-year), while operating income was 47,704 million yen (up 43.1% year-on-year).

Looking at the Digital Content Business, which includes games, net sales were 81,426 million yen (yo 33.0% year-on-year), while operating income was 47,361 million yen (up 36.8 year-on-year).

Resident Evil 4 is a relevant factor in Capcom’s financial success.

Street Fighter 6  (of which you can purchase a copy on Amazon) has shipped 2.98 million units as of December 31 (but we already know that it has passed 3 million copies immediately after, by January 3), which contributed to the company’s earnings.

The Monster Hunter series is also said to have sold well, driven by the announcement of Monster Hunter Wilds. Resident Evil 4 (of which you can buy a copy on Amazon) also contributed to the growth in sales and reached 6.48 million shipments.

The game has continued selling well also thanks to ongoing promotions including the free update for PlayStation VR2.

Unit sales of home video games were 32.6 million units compared to 29.1 million units in the same period of the previous year. Catalog sales (of games released before this fiscal year) were 26.7 million units, compared to 22 million in the same period of the previous year.

Monster Hunter Now for mobile platforms also exceeded 10 million downloads, and it’s said to have contributed to driving “wider recognition for the brand.”

Today’s results keep Capcom on track to achieve its previously announced full-year earning forecast (which remains unchanged at 140,000 million yen with 56,000 million in operating income) and the eleventh consecutive year of operating profit growth.
