Capcom has released a statement addressing some of Dragon’s Dogma 2 players’ most common criticisms of the game, including its abundance of paid DLC, poor performance, and more.
In a post on the game’s official Steam page, Capcom says it “sincerely apologize[s]” for any inconvenience that the aforementioned issues have caused.
The studio begins by addressing the numerous crashes and bugs players have encountered. Capcom says it’s looking into these and will be addressing them via patches “in the near future”.
With regards to starting a new game once already playing – which, bizarrely, it seems Dragon’s Dogma 2 doesn’t allow you to do – this is another issue Capcom says it’s looking to address. The studio says it will announce more details soon.
On the contentious issue of paid DLC, Capcom doesn’t have much to say, it seems. The studio simply lists the items available for purchase and reiterates that they’re all also obtainable in-game. I suspect that won’t go particularly far to allay most players’ grievances, but we’ll have to see.
Lastly, Capcom addresses the problem of choppy Dragon’s Dogma 2 frame rates. The developer says that frame rates tend to be lowest where many characters congregate, due to high CPU usage. Capcom goes on to say it’s looking into ways to improve the game’s performance.
There you have it, then. Capcom is aware of many of the problems about which Dragon’s Dogma 2 players are complaining, and it sounds like fixes for those problems are in the works, with the exception of paid DLC, which appears to be here to stay. Surprise, surprise.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 launched today for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It’s the sequel to the 2012 cult classic RPG Dragon’s Dogma, and it sees players once again taking up the mantle of the Arisen, although this time in a different setting to the first game.
The game may not have been on release for long, but it’s already attracted its share of controversy. At time of writing, the Steam review score is sitting at “Mixed” across 9,323 reviews, with many players highlighting the above issues as reasons for negative reviews.
