Cities: Skylines 2 Devs Detail Final Bug-Fixing Patch Before Mod Support Beta

Cities: Skylines 2 is getting one more “stand-alone” bug-fixing patch before updates begin focusing on bigger changes, Colossal Order has confirmed.

In the latest Word of the Week column on the game’s official Steam page, the developer says that patch 1.0.19 will focus on fixing bugs reported by the community and discovered by internal testers.

These bugs include “multiple cases of random crashes”, as well as stat panel issues, missing text, and more. Gameplay improvements will also be made to land value, which will no longer decrease to 0 even if land is heavily polluted.

Cities: Skylines 2 updates are about to become less frequent.

Other incoming changes include balancing work on the Incinerator Plant building, as well as changes to spawn rates for kids. More teens should now enter High School to get themselves a solid education.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Cities: Skylines 2 patch without some work on performance, and this time around, Colossal Order has optimized shadow culling and “reordered some rendering related systems”. It’s not glamorous, but it’s honest work.

Generally speaking, Patch 1.0.19 isn’t going to be a life-changing update, but it will be the final “minor” patch before modding support for Cities: Skylines 2 enters public beta. We still don’t have a time window for that, however.

Mods for Cities: Skylines 2 are on the horizon.

Colossal Order says it’s “fully focusing” on improving Cities: Skylines 2 beyond this incoming patch, and that it knows “actions speak louder than words”.

As such, it might be a while before we hear from the developer again; the patch notes for the aforementioned patch 1.0.19 will be the next Colossal Order communication, and after that, we’ll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, you can buy Cities: Skylines 2 right now on PC via Steam. It’s also available on PC Game Pass, and it’s scheduled to hit PS5 and Xbox Series X|S sometime in the spring.
