Getting towards the mid point of 2025, today I thought I would do an update on the current state of Classic World of Warcraft.
We will be talking about what options there are for the game at the moment, how populated each version of the game is, and some ideas about what is expected to happen in the future and when.

MoP was the reason i quit years ago…..when i did return to retail, i skipped MoP on every toon.
Basically there just tryong to make classic wow like modern wow. Ill just stick with turtle wow.

They should stop with Wotlk and with dungeon finder.

I feel like the nostalgia bait soup is getting pretty thin at this point.
Personally, feel Blizzard are constantly shooting themselves in the foot with all these releases…. There are only so many versions of "Classic" and only so many players. I seriously feel they should end the current classic with MOP, end SOD as well. They honestly shouldn't progress the anniversary realms to TBC, it should remain just a limited run of classic in celebration of the 20th anniversary. Maybe retire them all to the Eras tab under separate realm types if absolutely necessary.
They need to concentrate everything into one brand new, fresh start, Classic+ realm. Similar start to SOD, start players at low levels first, new lower level raids similar to BFD. Maybe even bring back BFD. Bring as much incentive for every kind of player possible: Duel arenas, an exploration element similar to SOD's runes, World PVP, some quality PVE content and just neat stuff to go out into the world and find. Then regularly release stuff like that quarterly, if they did this, I think people would enjoy it.
Legion Remix is neat for people that want that… Honestly couldn't care less. I reckon that could exist alongside Classic+ without much issue. Holy hell they really do not need to keep progressing the current "classic" to there though. It is hardly "classic' anymore.
Time will tell I suppose. I'm not touching WoW again for now, I really want something fresh like the original Classic release so long ago now… Seeing the Scarlet Enclave release was very tempting but I've missed that boat, because they lost my interest with prior releases. SOD is great but it was supposed to be a "Season". Not pseudo classic+
I hope they atleast go as far as WOD because WOD was my favorite expansion and to this day i still dont understand how it was so hated despite having some of the best content … i get the garrison kind of destroyed communication and interaction but the world was truly the best at that point in time
One problem is, they FORCED you to move from WOTLK to cata. I was getting really into WOTLK classic, only to log in and find I was on cata. I logged out and didn't go back. But, a lot of people see wow as "an investment" and wouldn't just abandon their character. I bet if wotlk classic got it's own servers, cata would have been worse off. It seems like we can get all these weird versions of wow, except a single classic vanilla server with no changes at all. The only server that really would matter.
Im glad that all the toxic players are playing on blizzard servers. That way we can keep these toxic twats away from our beloved private servers.

Am I the only one who likes original no changes vanilla? If I want some crazy features and action – I go retail. Adding changes to vanilla is like adding chocolate+berry topping+crispy chips+nuts+whatever else. Can it taste good? Yes, but you can't eat it everyday, vanilla on the other hand, is a simple taste that you can consume every day and never get bored of. + vanilla wow evokes those sweet nostalgia feelings.
SOD was rly fun experience, but i quit it in 2 months. However, I always come back to vanilla and tbc 🙂

Thank you, all these "changes" killed my fever to get back in. They clearly still lack direction and are just throwing every bag of shit against the wall, keep spawning garbage like their sod phases for 1 month hype bursts. Blizzard really is dead

I tried seasons of discovery with the free runes. They are incredbly OP at lower levels level 10-12 shamans can solo RFC. I felt very lost overall. I am waiting for a seasons or classic+ drop.
After a 2 year hiatus I returned and play anniversary. I hope to be able to transfer to era when it progresses into tbc for others. That would be perfect for me.
since remix happened, im not looking forward to mop, ill probably max a character and wait for the timeless isle to catch up a bit.
otherwise ill wait to see if theres gonna be new seasonal servers or when theyll decide to start a new fresh server.
the anniversary ones felt like they were released to fast after sod and they were announced like two weeks in advance, so
none of my friends were interested.
This is the ideal way to deliver every expansion's experience without having it ruined or muddled by the release of new content in the same server that renders the whole intended experience meaningless.
Even if a particular expansion isn't that popular and we don't see an audience demand for it I still think it's work doing a classic version of everything up to shadowlands.
The distinction of what is "classic" and what "isn't classic" is so stupid and pointless. Classic is just a name, it doesn't and never has actually defined blizzard's intent regarding the project. this is the same thing as complaining about not having enough war in your "world of WARcraft" just some completely brain dead dedication to a single word in a name.
Of course I know not every expansion needs a dedicated server. But it would be a lot easier determining what their players want if they at least tried as many of the expansions as possible first.

I played WoW from Beta until the end of Wotlk. Tried almost every expansion after that but they didn't keep me interested for long. I am tempted to get back into it and would love to play Wotlk classic, but you can't do that anymore right? Is there any hope in getting an anniversary Wotlk server or is my only hope going with a classic that progresses to TBC then on to Wotlk?
After 5+ years away i jumped in with some trial characters just to check before i buy..
1. The interface is much more different and complicated (i dont know if this happens because i play with trials).
2. I didnt see many people around.
3. Chats are like 99,99% bots selling services.
4. This ''Body 1'' and ''Body 2'' instead of male and female, is just insulting.
5. The evoker class a total mess. I remember back then, monks and demon hunters were a little bizarre
but that was nothing in front of evokers. I thought i was playing another game.
Looks like Blizzard changed a lot of things in the game but nothing that was actually worth mentioning…
I prefer, TBC, WOTLK and the Goblins in Wrath but I’d rather stick to the famous Trio.

Why anyone would want to play through Pandaria again when we've just had Pandaria remix, is beyond me.
Biggest mistake they can make is not doing classic plus. The most succesful thing Jagex ever did was make OldSchool its own seperate permanent game.
I am HC only now. I built a machine for retail and had no time for it. Classic HC never changes, the leveling and dungeons and the journey and every time I log my life is on the line.
Started leveling when anniversary launched. Getting back to that now after RL stuff now clearing time for gaming
