Remedy Entertainment is perhaps one of the more under-appreciated studios in the video games industry. While pretty much all of their games (with a few exceptions) have been critically-acclaimed, their sales have historically been slower than expected; with the GOTY-nominated Alan Wake 2 taking almost a year and a half to reach profitability. Fortunately, their latest endeavour, the excellent Control Resonant, appears to be resonating with far more players – having officially sold 1 million copies in just 3 weeks.
Taking to Blue Sky to make the announcement, the team at Remedy Entertainment officially confirmed that Control Resonant has sold over 1 million copies since its launch on the 24th of September, writing: “Thank you for the support. For playing, sharing, and being a part of the community.”
For context, the original Control (which released back in 2019) was a pretty slow-burner, taking well over a year to reach 2 million copies sold. Even so, at the time this made it Remedy’s fastest-growing intellectual property since the classic Max Payne. In the years since, Control’s cache has risen, eventually going on to surpass 6 million copies sold as of March 2026.
In a similar vein, Alan Wake 2 – the sequel to their cult-hit Xbox 360 title – took well over a month to hit the 1 million sales mark. Once again, it served as the studio’s fastest selling game at the time (despite taking a year to reach profitability), meaning that Control Resonant is likely their most successful game to date; at least during its launch period.
While it is unknown exactly how big of a budget Control Resonant has had, here’s to hoping that the game manages to become profitable far sooner than Remedy’s past output; it certainly deserves it.
