Days after Larian’s big The Game Awards announcement, 2017’s Divinity: Original Sin 2 receives current gen upgrade for Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S

Divinity: Original Sin 2 now has current gen versions available for Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Larian’s previous RPG, before Baldur’s Gate 3, was already available on Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. But now it’s available on newer platforms with higher resolution and increased framerate. There’s also a free upgrade available if you already own the game.

The shadow drop follows a leak last week of a PS5 version of the Definitive Edition of the game, so this isn’t totally out of the blue.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Now Available On Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, & PlayStation 5!Watch on YouTube

Divinity: Original Sin 2 was first released in 2017 for PC, with PS4, Xbox One, Switch and iPad versions following. While already available to play on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, it’s been via backwards compatibility only.

“Hey we weren’t meant to announce that yet,” wrote Larian’s director of publishing Michael Douse on the leak last week.

That leak arrived alongside new trademarks for the Divinity franchise, which pre-empted Larian’s announcement at The Game Awards that the studio is developing a new Divinity game.

The announcement finally solved the mystery of the strange statue in the Mojave Desert. Revealed with a gruesome trailer, Divinity is going to be even larger than Baldur’s Gate 3.

Until then, it seems Larian is keen for players to revisit a refreshed Divinity: Original Sin 2.
