Who is this even for?
The kid in me who played Star Wars Battlefront on the PS2 loves the idea of my Halo-Guy-With-Marvel-Super-Powers unlocking a lightsaber and a high-fidelity Star Wars blaster, from a good ol cheesy battle against Empire-inspired enemies. But the modern gamer in me who's put more hours into Warframe than Destiny takes one look at this and says "oh, more paid expansions and more forced corporate fomo…". If this was a spinoff Star Wars game, I'd be 100% sold. Knowing it's part of Destiny's live-service dumpster fire is a letdown.
I wonder where they got the idea for stratagems…I mean renegade abilities……

I played the beta for the first Destiny back in 2014 and seeing this game turn into something so unoriginal compared to what peak Destiny used to be is a heartache itself. The game used to be about mystery, unique characters, intricate raid mechanics and a reward system that genuinely felt special. Humble yourselves acknowledge that the community is unhappy and deliver quality ORIGINAL updates. THAT is what lead us to the game in the first place. It’s truly shame to see what this game has come to and I know a strong majority of people agree with me, just because you added lightsabers to your game and put some cloth scrap on some goblins does not make it cool.

I don’t know about this. I feel like we have crossed a line as Destiny players where we may have to say. I’m Done…Truly. This is no longer destiny it’s now game that doesn’t know what it is anymore. At this point I might as well go and play SWTOR.
I love star wars and remember playing destiny 1 and 2 and having a blast, but this is kind of sad, like why ?

Bungie used to make Halo, a story about Master Chief-John 117-saving humanity from extinction. Human stories.
I played destiny from day 1. I’ll never forget Taken King. I remember skipping a couple classes to play Rise of Iron.
Vanilla D2 was new and weird, but initially welcomed. The story, art, piggybacking off D1. It was wonderful. Flaws, and everything. Forsaken was another masterpiece. Beyond light was saved merely by the darkness subclass, and gave answers to a decade long question: “wtf is the darkness?”
Witch queen was another masterpiece. Final shape was a nice bow to wrap it up.
As far as I’m concerned, nothing beyond final shape exists.
Besides the lightsaber and “Star Wars walkers,” the overall ambiance and aesthetic of this update is exactly what I originally craved from Destiny 2 when it first came out. How many years later now? Damn… Took u long enough. :))
