Disgaea Mayhem Release Date Brings the Chaos in July

NIS America has announced that Disgaea Mayhem, the latest spinoff of the popular tactical RPG series, is coming to the West in July, and it’s losing none of the series’ signature over-the-top fun, either.

First revealed in February, Disgaea Mayhem is landing on PC and consoles on July 23rd, and that includes the Switch 2, although you’ll also be able to play it on the original Switch if you prefer.

The game represents a “brand new take on the Disgaea franchise”, according to NIS America; it swaps the series’ thoughtful (if wacky) tactical battling for a more direct, hands-on action RPG approach, so expect to get stuck into combat rather than directing things from the skies as usual.

Disgaea Mayhem comes West in July.

You’ll play as the mercenary N.A., who must help Princess Tichelle to acquire as much dessert as she possibly can in order to score a massive paycheck. It is, as that summary suggests, a “light-hearted tale”, in NIS America’s words.

This being Disgaea, you can also look forward to seven different weapons to wield, each of which offers a different playstyle for you to master. Naturally, you can switch between them whenever you like as well, so you’re not limited to just one combat style.

Also in keeping for Disgaea are the absurd damage numbers; NIS America says you’ll be “pass[ing] new bills at the Dark Chocolate Assembly to make the numbers go up until you’re dealing a million damage with every hit”.

If you’re a fan of the Warriors series and its various spinoffs, you’ll probably enjoy this one, but you’ll love it even more if you’re also a Disgaea aficionado. You can check out the new release date trailer right here.

Disgaea Mayhem is releasing for PC, PlayStation 5, and both Switch 2 and Switch on July 23rd. Make sure to wishlist this one if you’re looking for some larger-than-life RPG action.
