DIVINITY NEW Game From LARIAN STUDIOS – My Thoughts

DIVINITY NEW Game From LARIAN STUDIOS – My Thoughts
In this video, I’m going to be talking a little bit about Divinity, which is the new Larian Studios game that was announced at the Game Awards just a couple hours ago. If you followed the channel, you’ll know that Divinity Original Sin 2 was the big break that I got on Fextralife’s YouTube channel when we started doing builds and covering Divinity Original Sin 2. So a lot of Fextralife’s roots are lodged in Divinity itself.

No offense to the actor but the male animations better be done by a male-male, having my male characters animations be very feminine stopped me from playing almost every male RP character I could think of.. aside form that my biggest complaint about BG3 was the limitation of what you could do with a class and Divinity lets you customize all your skills etc.

So in DOS1 it felt if you're not a mage who can't cast armor ressitances, you were completly screwd, which for me, ruined all other classes

In DOS2 the armor mechanic meant all you need to do is melt armor and stunt lock which I really hated because it made all encounters easy

In BG3, stunts felt almost usless as doing pure damage were way superrior as the enemy can just wake up out of stunt next turn…

I wonder what they will do for DOS3 to make it, the best experience. Any thoughts anyone?
I really agree that the DOS2 was the worst mechanic out of previous three

Bioware: "We want Call Of Duty's audience."
Larian: "We want to make the best damn ever RPG."

I'm yet to finish a single Larian game! They're too bloody long and I'm usually bored of the combat by the final act. Not because the combat mechanics are boring but because I've been playing the same character now for 100 hours. Shorter game with more replayability, more branching paths, randomised encounters etc. would be better imo.

I really thought they were making a scifi game, but yes Larian is probably only company whose game I could buy without any reviews.

Cass, I really hope Larian has some material, put together, from BG3 and DOSI and/or DOSII, yeah played all! I haven't completed DOSI, though. I hope Larian will allow Early Access, I'd pay, as I did, prior for 2(?) of their games… Anyway, stoked!✌🏼

I could never get into the other divinity games they did I struggled too much with how abillities broke armour or magic armour down, even after beating BG3 I went back and just could not do it. However I will buy this game for sure even if I'm not good at the mechanic whatever they may be but this studio has quality and it must be rewarded 😄

DOS2 will be my first divinity game. Played the hell out of BG3, loved every second.

I love the mindset that Larian has with their game development. They prioritized writing and passion. They hired a massive team of writers, their job postings were all over for those that were looking but incredibly competitive which makes me hopeful that they have the writing dream team.

A game set in Rivellon after BG3 feels like the logical next step. From a business standpoint, BG3 firmly established Larian in the mainstream, and the natural move would be to bring its own IP into that same space. That said, Larian has consistently been driven more by creative passion than pure strategy. I started with DOS1, then DOS2, and finally BG3, and that throughline of authorial intent has always been evident.

I completely agree that with Divinity, they dont need to rely on external design constraints. To me part of DOS2's charm was the classless system and the ability to create your own skills by combining others. It’s exciting that BG3 helped them grow into even stronger RPG developers and now they can combine that expertise with full creative freedom to craft something truly memorable for us.

I’m praying to god they do the same conversation style as bg3, I do not like the text on screen/not cutscene of dos

This is the first time a game trailer genuinely made me avert my gaze due to how brutal it was. I can't wait!
