Quite some time ago I did a deep dive into my purchasing habits and enjoyment of games as it related to how long I had been waiting for a game. I then took that idea and applied the basic framework to see what I could tease out of a larger dataset via SteamDB. I wasn't able to come up with anything truly definitive, there are always outliers, but in general, I found that I enjoyed games more that I had only discovered a few months prior to release and that, again in general, the games that have the highest review scores tend towards having a shorter window between initial announcement and release. The sweet spot seems to be between three to six months. All this is to say, I tend to avoid trailers for games that don't have a definitive release date. Of course, I still watched this video as I'm always trying in my very small way to help smaller indie creators out there, but just thought I'd throw this out there as an idea you might chew on.
