Bonuses ⭐

  • XP icon

You will get 2x XP for evolving Pokémon

  • Shiny icon

The featured Pokémon and its evolution can be shiny in Pokémon GO

Note on XP Bonus

If you do not want to catch the featured Pokémon, you can make use of the 2x Evolution XP bonus by evolving any saved Scatterbug, or opening a Mystery Box or Coin Bag! This is a great opportunity to evolve any Pokémon for XP before clearing out your storage. Fomantis is an interesting choice for an evolution XP bonus spotlight hour, because it needs a whopping 100 candy to evolve, and a Sinnoh Stone!

The old-school grinders will remember the days of saving Pidgey and other low cost evolutions for this sort of spotlight hour, and it can be a good way to grind XP with a lucky egg on.

Shiny Fomantis

Shiny Fomantis should be easy enough to spot – the usual pink colourings turn light green.

Pokémon Regular Shiny
Fomantis Fomantis is a small, plantlike Pokémon. It has large, dark pink eyes with slightly darker pupils. Bunches of light green leaves surround its head, and a particularly large tuft in front slightly overhangs its face. A small, dark green bulb sprouts from the center of its head, which emits a pleasant aroma. Around its neck is a collar of short, dark green leaves. Extending from its collar are four lighter green leaves with white tips: two in the front and two in the back. In the front, these leaves act as scythe-like arms. Its main body is pale pink with a thick, dark pink stripe down the front and back. It has a stubby tail and two short legs. Fomantis is a small, plantlike Pokémon. Lurantis Lurantis is a plantlike Pokémon that resembles a mantis. The top half of its head is light pink, while the bottom half is white. It has light red eyes, and two green antennae with a small green lump between them. There are four extensions to the top half of its head: two on the top with red tips that resemble ears, and one on each side with white tips that resemble stylized hair. It has a light pink body with wavy, skirt-like extensions around the waist and a green abdomen and neck. Its thin, white arms end in large, red scythes with white along the bottom rim and a single green claw on the tip. There are vertical, pink-and-red stripes down its legs, which have small, pointed green feet. The coloring and shape of Lurantis's body and arms give it the appearance of wearing a long-sleeved dress, while its legs are similar to pants. Four red, wing-like appendages sprout from its back, each tipped with white. Lurantis is a plantlike Pokémon that resembles a mantis. Mega Pokémon that boost Fomantis
Research icon

The following Pokémon will grant you extra bonuses when catching Fomantis if they are Mega/Primal evolved. We highly recommend Mega Evolving a Pokémon during this event to get as much candy as possible!

A Note on Mega Catch Bonus

While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.

LURANTIS‘ stats are very average… very slightly less bulky than Swampert, Venusaur, and Talonflame, and right in line with Trevenant in terms of Attack strength and overall bulk. (Those are ALL right in the same ballpark depending on IVs.) The pure Grass typing means Lurantis and Fomantis resist Grass, Electric, Water, and Ground, and are weak to Poison, Fire, Ice, Flying, and Bug.

Lurantis is well worth hunting for as a new toy in Great League, Little League, and Ultra Leauge, in that order. You may even want two if you can manage it, one with Superpower (sneaking away with some impressive Steel wins) and one with Leaf Storm (for a higher ceiling with big bomby damage)
