Xbox didn’t only promise that Forza Horizon 6 would be released on PS5 before the end of the year, it also recently refuted reports that its 2026 date had slipped into 2027. Turns out those reports were correct, or at least that’s how it seems, as a reliable leaker with a flawless track record has revealed Forza Horizon 6’s PS5 release date.
Forza Horizon 6 On PS5 Release Date, Price, And More Potentially Revealed
The latest news on when exactly Forza Horizon 6 will finally speed onto PS5, along with a handful of other unrevealed details, comes courtesy of dealabs. The French site hasn’t missed when it comes to sharing information of this nature before it’s officially revealed, so as leaks go, you can pretty much take this as the next best thing after official confirmation.
Dealabs claims that Forza Horizon 6 will now miss 2026, but not by much. The leaker reports that the current release date for Playground’s latest racing game is January 26, 2027. The same report also notes that the game will cost the same as it does on Xbox, so $69.99 for its standard edition, and that all this information will be officially confirmed this week.
The leaker adds that pre-orders will likely go live shortly after the release date is confirmed, and that the game will get a physical release. Expected since it will arrive on PS5 a full year before the platform leaves discs behind for good, but you never know for sure anymore which studios will jump on that bandwagon before PlayStation’s hard deadline.
Xbox Shot Down Claims Forza Horizon 6 Won’t Be On PS5 Until 2027
The Verge reported earlier this year that Xbox has internally delayed Forza Horizon 6’s PS5 version. Xbox then released a statement, seemingly in response to those reports, reassuring those waiting to play the critically acclaimed racing game on PS5 that any rumors they might have heard were not true, and that Forza Horizon 6 was still on track to be on Xbox’s rival platform before the end of the year.
Either that wasn’t true at the time and for some reason Xbox lied, or something has changed since then that means the latest Forza’s arrival on PS5 had to be pushed. I’m leaning towards believing the former, although I can’t figure out why Xbox would lie, outside of being irked about someone outside the company sharing information before they had the chance to share it themselves.
The relative radio silence surrounding Forza Horizon 6 coming to PS5 may have worried fans of the series who don’t have anything else to play it on in the wake of Xbox’s return to keeping some of its first-party games console exclusive. Considering how well Forza Horizon 5 has sold on PS5, it’s unlikely the series will ever be pulled back in for exclusivity purposes.
