Note on Catch Bonus

Changing Furfrou’s form costs 25 candy and 10,000 stardust. Make the most of this catch candy bonus to save up some candy for those form changes! Here’s how to get all the different Furfrou trims.

If you do not want to catch the featured Pokémon, you can make use of the 2x Catch Candy bonus by catching any saved Scatterbug, or opening a Mystery Box or Coin Bag! You can stock up field research or leave any special or timed research encounters until Spotlight Hour to make use of this bonus. If you aren’t interested in Gen 5 Starter candy, you could even use this bonus to get extra candy from catching raid bosses!

Regular Shiny
Furfrou Furfrou, in its standard form, resembles an elegant white poodle with a pristine, fluffy coat that can be styled in various trims. Its fur is immaculately white, contrasting sharply with its black face, paws, and underbelly. Furfrou’s striking blue eyes give it a noble and refined appearance. The different trims—such as the Heart, Star, Diamond, and Kabuki styles—reshape its white fur into themed silhouettes, each with slight colour highlights but maintaining the dominant white palette. These trims offer a customisable look while preserving the Pokémon’s overall clean and sophisticated aesthetic. In its Shiny form, Furfrou’s appearance changes dramatically. Its once-white coat turns into a sleek black or charcoal-grey, giving it a more dramatic and fashionable flair. The blue eyes remain unchanged, providing a striking contrast against the darker fur. The trims retain their shapes across the styles, but the colour shift to black alters their visual impact—lending a more gothic or formal feel compared to the airy elegance of the original. This Shiny version appeals to those who favour a more understated yet bold look in their Pokémon’s design.

Mega Pokémon that boost Furfrou
General icon

The following Pokémon will grant you extra bonuses when catching Furfrou if they are Mega/Primal evolved.

A Note on Mega Catch Bonus

While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.

How does Furfrou perform?
General icon

PVE

The Fashionista Furfrou has been a staple of Research Breakthroughs in Pokémon GO, much to the dismay of Trainers. It is terrible for PvE, so just collect its various forms for the Dex and let it be. 😂

⚔ Raids

Normal types aren’t suitable as Raid counters due to a lack of super-effective coverage. The thing is, even among Normal types, Furfrou is bad. Really bad. 😛

🛡 Gyms

Who let the Furfrou into the Gym? Out. OUT NOW!! 😡

PVP

Sand AttackTake DownSucker PunchBiteDark PulseSurfGrass Knot. My goodness, this stylish doggo has a variety of moves. 🤯

Style… but no substance. Give it a treat and order it to stay away from PvP. 🐩

🔵 Great League

It has a Dark-type moveset and, being a Normal-type Pokémon, it heavily resists Ghost-type damage. That’s a niche, yep, but it’s a terrible PvP Pokémon in all other matchups. 😐

🟡 Ultra League

Good Furfrou, who is a good doggo?! 🥰 Who? One that doesn’t go to the Ultra League! 🐶

🟣 Master League

What’s a doggo’s bark to a dragon’s roar? 🤣
