Genshin Impact Competitor Wuthering Waves Introduces Jianxin, Closed Beta Date Announced

Kuro Games released a new trailer of its upcoming action RPG Wuthering Waves, introducing a new character named Jianxin, and announced the start date of the next closed beta.

The second phase of the closed beta, which was announced a few weeks ago, will start on February 19 at 10:00 a.m. UTC+8.

It’s worth mentioning that you can still register for the beta for a few minutes as of this writing, but the window is closing fast.

Jianxin is defined as “the successor of Fengyiquan. She has dedicated her life to the pursuit of ultimate martial arts.”

The trailer definitely appears to fit the bill, as we get to see both her martial arts and her will to consistently improve in action. You can watch it below in English and with Japanese voice-overs on the official channel.

Wuthering Waves is an upcoming action RPG by Chinese developer Kuro Games, and it certainly appears to be positioning itself within the niche that has exploded since the release of HoYoverse’s Genshin Impact. Yet, the game also seems to have its own charm and unique mechanics.

A first closed beta was held in 2023 and the developers have released several assets to show what the game is all about, including a video detailing monster capture,  another trailer alongside plenty of gameplay, a trailer revealing the character Sanua, and another focusing on another character, Danjin

I’ve actually seen the game in action at Tokyo Game Show and Gamescom, and it looked promising. While I haven’t had the chance to try it due to rather large crowds and lack of time (Kuro Games’ booths seem to always be very popular at events), I’m certainly intrigued.

Incidentally, the upcoming closed beta won’t have an NDA, so you’ll likely be able to see plenty of gameplay posted pretty much everywhere even if you didn’t get an invite of your own.
