There are all sorts of fish in Dredge, and sometimes they come out a little different than usual. Aberrant fish are fish that have mutated in some way and can be sold for a higher price. Here’s how to catch Aberrant Fish in Dredge.
How to Catch Aberrant Fish
Aberrant fish can be found at the same fishing spots as regular fish. The key is you need to look out for a greenish mist above the fishing spot, along with multicolored sparkles. That means there is an Aberrant fish there. It could be the first fish you bring up or the last, but as long as the shimmer is there, the fish is available to be caught. Each type of fish has multiple Aberrant versions in the Encyclopedia. You can tell a fish is Aberrant in your cargo or storage but its dark purple background.

The first time you catch an Aberrant fish it will most likely be a Squid. You will get a Pursuit to bring the fish to the Fishmonger. He will end up taking out a Handkerchief from inside it, but pay you more for it as well. He will pay a higher price for any Aberrant fish you catch. If you purchased the Blackstone Key DLC, the Sign of Ruin increases your chance of encountering Aberrant fish. This is a quick way to make money if you can bring in multiple Aberrant fish per haul.
If your Psyche is really bad, you can sometimes get attacked by an Aberrant fish. While getting scared and having a bad Psyche is not suggested, it can be something to play around with every now and again. Depending on the Aberrant that ends up in your cargo, it may spread disease to your other fish.
