Phasmophobia has added another spooky little problem child to the ghost lineup, and this one is bringing a new meaning to please stop touching things. The Deildegast is a spirit with a name that may make your tongue file a formal complaint, but its behavior is much easier to understand once you know what to look for.
Like every ghost in Phasmophobia, figuring out its tricks is the difference between a successful investigation and becoming a very sad addition to the afterlife. Grab your favorite flashlight, avoid panicking when the lights flicker, and get ready to uncover exactly what makes this ghost stand out from the rest.
How To Identify A Deildegast
The Deildegast is a naturally fast ghost that can become dramatically slower depending on how many items players disturb before a hunt begins. Its evidence combination of:
- EMF Level 5
- Ghost Writing
- D.O.T.S. Projector
This can confirm the identification, but its unique item mechanic is the best way to recognize it in action.
The biggest clue for identifying a Deildegast is its incredible hunting speed. During a hunt, the Deildegast moves at a base speed of 3 meters per second, which makes it one of the fastest ghosts in the game.
This puts it around the same speed as a Revenant when the Revenant is actively chasing a player. However, unlike many fast ghosts, the Deildegast does not gain speed from maintaining line of sight with a player. It will remain at a consistent speed throughout the hunt.
The easiest way to test for a Deildegast is by paying attention to how its speed changes between hunts. Before a hunt begins, you can slow the ghost down by moving objects that naturally spawn around the investigation location. Items brought from the truck, such as flashlights, EMF readers, books, smudge sticks, or other equipment, will not count. Instead, you need to pick up and throw objects already placed in the house, such as plates, cups, toys, remotes, and other decorations.
Each unique item moved reduces the Deildegast’s speed by 0.1 meters per second. Throwing around 30 different objects will bring it down to its slowest possible speed, which makes it noticeably easier to survive a hunt.
The slowdown effect only applies after the objects have been moved before a hunt. Once the hunt ends, the Deildegast returns to its normal fast speed unless more objects are disturbed. Dead players can also contribute by moving objects, meaning eliminated teammates can still help slow the ghost down.
