Mega Seed is a mythic rarity seed in Grow a Garden 2 that you can collect from the map server during the Mega Moon event, but since this event only fires at night, you’ve got a tight 2-minute window to catch it. Track the day-cycle meter above your screen to time it correctly.
The Mega Moon event only has a 2% chance to appear at night, so it’s not guaranteed, but joining a public server with lots of players can make it spawn. For more details, keep reading our GaG 2 guide till the end.

How to Get Mega Seed in Grow a Garden 2
In essence, the Mega Seed works a lot like the Rainbow and Gold Seeds, which also flood the map during their respective moon events. But there’s a key difference: instead of growing mutated plants like all-gold or all-rainbow crops, the Mega Seed grows giant crops, meaning your plants won’t just tower in size; they’ll also produce bigger fruits, veggies, and flowers.
That makes farming it one of the best ways to stock your garden with oversized plants, and since heavier crops sell for more, it’s also a solid way to rack up extra Sheckles.
Mega Seeds only grow into crops available in the Seed Shop. Ghost Pepper Pack exclusives like Baby Cactus, Horned Melon, Glow Mushroom, Poison Ivy, and Ghost Pepper are off the table.
To get Mega Seeds in Grow a Garden 2, wait for the Mega Moon event. You’ll know it’s active when the weather meter shows a full blue moon icon at night. Once the ‘A Mega Seed Spawned’ notification pops up, hunt it down on the map (look for a big blue seed), sprint toward it, and press ‘E’ to grab it.
Based on our testing, Mega Seeds tend to drop more on the backside of plots, just like Gold and Rainbow Seeds, so expand your map fully to spot them. We run Owls and Rabbits for extra speed and a wider view of the map, so we can scout and grab multiple seeds in one run.
Once you gather a Mega Seed, the whole server gets notified, so expect competition fast. Other players will try to knock you off your seed using Shovels, Flashbangs, and Strawberry Snipers. Keep jumping and moving while spamming ‘E’ to dodge their attacks and secure the grab.

How to Trigger the Mega Moon Event in GaG 2
Like all weather events, Mega Moon appears randomly, so there’s no way to manually trigger it. It has a 2% chance of hitting each night, the same odds as the Rainbow Moon event.
However, you’ll likely need a full server to make the most of it. Being on a public server makes more Mega Seeds spawn during this event, while private servers only see a few drops.
To catch the Mega Moon event in time, your best move is joining the game’s official Discord and turning on notifications for weather updates. To do so, follow these steps:
- Hop into the Grow a Garden 2 Discord server.
- Open the Weather channel’s settings and select “All Messages” under Notification Settings.
- Sit back and watch for the Mega Moon notification.
