There’s no deck-building, no spells, enchantments, or equipment, and the aim of the game is simple: use your army of randomly selected creatures to bash your opponent into submission. Momir is exactly the kind of game mode you and your friends might think of when trying to make your game nights a little more interesting.
How To Play Momir
Momir is a unique format because it strips away everything except land and creature cards, with every deck consisting of 60 lands and a token copy of Momir Vig, Simic Visionary.
The way this format works is quite straightforward: you can play one basic land per turn, and if you wish, you can activate your copy or Momir to create a random creature worth X mana, with X being however much you want to spend each turn.
As an example, if on turn three you play a third basic land, you can activate Momir for an X cost of three; you will also need to discard a card from your hand as an additional cost, then a token copy of a random creature from the history of MTG will spawn on the battlefield. Its abilities will trigger, and if it has an ability you can pay to activate, this is also possible, provided you have the correct mana in play.
What makes Momir so fun as a format is the mix of tactical activation of creatures and the sheer luck of the draw when it comes to which creatures you end up with.

When Is Momir Playable In MTG Arena?
Momir is, unfortunately, not a permanent format in MTG Arena.
It’s only available to play during set periods of time, typically during midweek madness events where limited-time formats are added to the game. The good news, however, is that Momir is always free to play during midweek madness, so you won’t need to cough up any coins or gems to play the format when it’s live.
