How To Recruit Shixeen In Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a game loaded with games. In that way, it is similar to the recently released Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. And while Rebirth has Queen’s Blood, Eiyuden has its own card game. Oddly, Eiyuden’s card game doesn’t get a name, but make no mistake, this is a well-thought-out, fully realized card battler that holds its own in the highly competitive world of card games played within RPGs.

Eiyuden’s Card Game features high-scoring hands that Poker players will be familiar with, but unlike Poker, you will be playing three hands all at once. Moreover, you will be able to acquire a number of special cards that are worth more if you fulfill different criteria. Ultimately, this game will also give you the opportunity to recruit a new character. But worry not if you are feeling overwhelmed. We’ll walk you through how to play the game, and give you everything you need to win big!

How To Unlock The Card Battle Game

You can unlock the Card Battles by recruiting Glen. He’ll be hanging out in Arenside once you unlock the Euchrisse region (this is shortly after completing the Proving Ground dungeon). You will need to beat Glen in a Card Battle first, but this is a very stripped-down version, as you will only have the regular cards.

For this battle, don’t place anything down that is lower than a 7. You will also want to aim for straights, three-of-a-kind, or a hand that has the same suites. However, we’re going to state this again because of how important it is, don’t prioritize one of those hands over big numbers. For now, the bigger the numbers, the better!

This pure focus on higher numbers is exclusive to your first battle with Glen. This will all change once you start building your deck.

Where Do I Go To Play The Card Game After Its Unlocked?

At first, you’ll likely expect to play the Card Game like how you play Beigoma. Especially since Eiyuden tells you that you’ll be able to challenge different characters to a Card Game match. However, things are handled differently with the Card Game. Instead of talking to people and challenging them to a match, you will head to Glen’s Card Game stall and choose to challenge characters from there. You will be able to compete against every single character you have recruited: Glen included.

Each opponent is ranked from C to A. The primary factor that determines their grade is their deck. The more standard cards they have, the lower their grade. Naturally, A-tier competitors have decks that are composed almost exclusively of special cards.

How To Play The Card Game

As we mentioned in the introduction, you will play three hands in the Eiyuden Card Game. The hand with the highest number will win. You get bonus points for having a straight, three-of-a-kind, or three cards with the same suit. If you have a straight with the same suit, you will get the most bonus points possible.

Initially, when you have the base deck, the bonus points won’t be able to compensate for a hand with low numbers. However, nearly every unique card is worth either an 8 or a 9 if you meet their requirements. This is why building your deck as quickly as possible is important, as it will give you a ton of viable hands.

Pay attention to the crowns. Those are the victory points. One hand will be worth one victory point, another will be worth two, and the third will be worth three. You will obviously want to play your best cards in the hand that is worth the most points.

One factor is that different hands can increase the victory points. This means that your opponent can win two of the three hands, but if you win the big one (worth three victory points) and win it with a hand that provides bonus points, you can easily be victorious. Sometimes you won’t have a great shuffle. In those cases, it is okay to sacrifice a hand in order to strengthen the other two.

Area Points:
The number of Victory Points you will win for that specific area.

Field Points:
Victory Points you are set to gain from you hand or your card’s effect.

How To Build Your Deck

You will build your deck by purchasing new cards from Glen. You will eventually be able to unlock 5 different types of packs. Each one is more expensive than the last, but more powerful cards are locked to the more expensive packs. In order to unlock more packs, you will need to level up your castle and invest in more decks through Iris and her blueprints.

Once you have acquired some new cards, swap them out for the standard cards. Every single unique card is superior to the standard cards, so you want to replace those as quickly as possible. Generally, unique cards will have one of the following requirements…

• Every card in this hand is odd/even
• Every card in this hand is a different suit
• This hand contains X suit (which color depends on the card)
• The opponent has played a card with X value/suit

Those aren’t the only criteria, but they are the most common ones. You will want to commit to specific strategies. As an example, it is easy to score big when you have a bunch of odd cards that have the bonus requirement of being played in a hand where all the cards are odd.

Nowa, Seign, Marisa, and Leene are just flat-out good cards without any strings attached.
They are worth
more
than 9 points, and they don’t have any requirements to speak of. This makes them easily the best cards in the game.

You will be able to find cards that mirror each other in every suit
. So, if you have a 1 card that rewards 8 bonus points if you play cards that have a power of 3 or less, you will be able to find an identical 1 card in every other suit. Stocking your deck with like cards will most certainly make your life a lot easier.

Card Packs

There are six card packs you can purchase. The moment you open up the card shop, you will have access to the starter pack. The next five packs are unlocked through castle upgrades. Each pack will contain more cards. While we don’t have a precise list of which cards are exclusive to which pack, we are pretty certain that Nowa and Leene are exclusive to Extra Pack 4. The final pack doesn’t contain any new cards, but instead provides you with rare cards at a faster pace.

How To Recruit Shixeen

As most things tend to in Eiyuden, the Card Game does have a recruitable character associated with it (beyond Glen). In order to recruit Shixeen, you will need to battle, and defeat, 15 opponents in a Card Battle.

It does not matter what rank these characters are. You can pick on the bottom feeders if you like. However, in order to recruit Shixeen you will also need to defeat her in a Card Battle, and she has a fully kitted-out deck. So, you will be better served trying your hand against some tougher opponents to help prepare yourself for the Shixeen battle.

You probably shouldn’t challenge Shixeen until you have replaced every (or nearly every) card from the standard deck.
Those regular cards just aren’t going to cut it.
