There are plenty of things to grind in Battlefield 6, but for the vast majority of players, weapons and attachments are going to be the most sought-after items. The vast majority of guns and gear are locked behind career progression, which means you’ll need to spend a lot of time farming XP. Thankfully, the game has XP boosters to help ease the grind a bit.
The XP Boosters in Battlefield 6 must be activated before they can give you those sweet bonus points, but the game’s UI can make things a little confusing. Here’s what you need to do to activate these boosts.
How to Activate XP Boosters in Battlefield 6
In order to use any XP Boosters saved in your account, you’ll first need to enter a match. Then, press the Escape/Start button to open the in-game pause menu. On the upper-right side of the screen, you’ll see an XP Boost icon above the Challenges list.
Select the XP Boost tab, and a window containing all the boosters you own will pop up, and you can use your desired boosters from there. XP Boosters can stack, so if you want to sit down for a long gaming session or farm to unlock new BF6 weapons, you may want to use more than one.
You can also activate XP Boosts in the main menu. While you’re selecting a playlist to queue for, you can find the same XP Boost button on top of the challenge list.
XP Boosters in Battlefield 6 count down in real time. That means their clocks will still be running even if you’re at the main menu, or if you’re just idling around on a loading screen or a pre-game screen. XP will only be boosted the moment you turn your booster on. For this reason, we recommend turning your XP Boosts on only when you’re already in-game.
Career vs Hardware Boosters
Career XP Boosters increase the amount of XP you gain for your main account level. If you want to rank up quickly in BF6, you’ll want to use these and do your best to get a high score during a match in order to make the most out of your XP boost.
Meanwhile, Hardware Boosters affect the XP gained by your weapons and vehicles. For those who weren’t aware, guns and vehicles now also use an XP system as their main form of progression. Previous Battlefield games used a kill-based system.
Vehicles level up extremely quickly in Battlefield 6. Using an XP Booster for them might not be necessary.
XP Modifiers
Apart from consumable XP boosters, you also get 5% more XP just by owning the game. You get another 5% bonus if you’re playing with a party, so if you have any friends online, make sure to hop into a match with them.
Breakthrough is a great mode for farming XP. If the match drags out for long enough, you’ll make plenty of progress towards your next couple of unlocks.
