Fernando Tatis Jr. is a shortstop for the San Diego Padres. Since 2019, the young superstar from the Dominican Republic has won the Silver Slugger Award in 2020, and was named an MLB All-Star in 2021. Unfortunately, Fernando Tatis Jr. sat out a good chunk of the 2022 season with an injury before he was suspended for 80 games when he tested positive for anabolic steroids. With that in mind, you may be wondering: Is Fernando Tatis Jr. in MLB The Show 23?
Is Fernando Tatis Jr. in MLB the Show 23?
As of this writing, Fernando Tatis Jr. is not in MLB The Show 23. No official reason has been give, but his absence is likely because he is still serving his 80 game suspension for steroid use. This tracks, as San Diego Studio removed Fernando Tatis Jr. from the Padres’ roster in MLB The Show 22 after he was suspended. Once the suspension was implemented in-game, the only way to use him was to use the Padres’ default roster or via the Rosters Vault.
Once his suspension is up, it’s likely San Diego Studio will add Fernando Tatis Jr. to MLB The Show 23. He is eligible to return on April 20th, when the Padres play a four-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, though that date is subject to change depending on rainouts or other postponements.
San Diego Studio has not commented on Fernando Tatis Jr. or his unique situation, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens when his suspension ends. Check out our other MLB the Show 23 guides here on GameSkinny.
